Obvious issues with customization aside I don't think that the mammets prevent a race choice being possible. Like the sister city of uldah, if trapped below with the dark magic/incident culling their population being forced into housing their most powerful mages souls in advanced mammet shells. Or whatever lol, you could make it work is all I'm saying. Of course due to the customization issues its not really a full on race, but if SE felt like it cause whatever then I dont see it being an issue. Like I said a sort of WoW "allied races" spree, obviously the lack of detail would make them rather straight forward to add in that way lol. In no way comparable to adding something like Viera but could be neat as some sort of "we did it because we can".

Also I really want to see an underground magic city and I just see those two being an easy bundle lol (not that I need vivi but I thought he was cute).

Get that limited nonsense outta here. I am thoroughly unimpressed with what limited has meant to Blue Mage and I'd rather not see it repeated in a job I'd really love. Yoshi P is just really, REALLY does not like pet jobs.

...when I read the title I expected a concept for a Gold Saucer minigame with mechanical blackmages racing each other while you'd be able to bet on them or something along those lines... I need to sleep more and read less right after getting up and before a cup of tea...

Have to say No. IF and that is a big IF since the rumor is no more races after viera, then it should be something unique to XIV.

Like some kind of Alagan mutant thing. Though we already have the Au ra which I still suspect as being just that.

Same reply for any other "anyone else want XXXX race"

I have been thoroughly impressed with what limited has meant to Blue Mage, and I'd rather see it repeated.

I'm not aware of any Mammeteer job in the franchise before, unless of course you mean Puppetmaster? We've got another thread begging SE not to implement so much of XI into XIV, so unless you're adamantly opposed to that user, we could simply have it be a different job entirely to your precious Puppetmaster.

final fantasy ix is good game and the version for psx have bugged history, maps, and grafical and it are guilty of psx, and not of square enix....
In ffix are 2 puppets race; the genome race of homunculi and black mage race of puppets

I dont think anyone here is saying that FFIX isnt a good game - just that the blackmage-automates arent a good "race-fit" for FFXIV.

Seeing how their basic design consist of (basically) two things, I can see why:
    (1) The siginature BLM-robe - we actually kinda got that in the form of the latest BLM-AF
    (2) The lack of a face and instead having this black, void space with two yellow glowing eyes - this also only works well in combination with the giant hat they're wearing

Other than that, they seem like humans (or in Vivis case: closer to lalafell) - nothing about them is unique, in terms of movement or features if you take away the robe and the void-space-face. They have the same statue as humans/lalafell, walk the same...

Now, what happens when a BLM-puppet wants to play a tank? And for that puts on some tank-armor? Bäm! The signature BLM-robe is gone and hes different from a hyur/lalafell how? By having a black cloud instead of a head?
And how well does the "black cloud for a head and no hair"-thing work in a game where people constantly ask for better customisation-options? (Actually, it would work GREAT for the dev-team - no need to give BLMs any options besides height, bust and eye-colour - no hairstyle, no facial features...)

What you're left with at this point is the lore - which sounds intresting enough, but seems to be more suited for a "beast"-tribe: Puppets coming to life, becoming selfconcious and founding a nice little village (sounds familiar?).
Now, I'm not 100% if having the echo requires you to also have a beating heart, but I dont see the WoL being something else but a living creature.

The genomes are actual living creatures now - but having them in the game would basically just be a "human with monkey features"-race.

FFIX is a great game (specially the german translation for once! For ONCE we got a translation thats better than the english one! Ha! ...sorry... got carried away... seriously, its pretty damn good), no one is doubting that (I hope) - but that doesnt mean that you can just port those races over without thinking about how (or if at all) they could fit into Eorzea. My guess is: The BLMs wont fit in to well, at least not as playable race since they dont have enough unique features, specially visually. The Genomes... well, they could make for another "human-with-tail"-race. I personally consider those kind of races boring, but to each their own...

    it a good idea

The Black Mage Village is a location on the Outer Continent in Final Fantasy IX populated by black mages who have become self-aware and desire a life of peace. The black mages lead a secluded life in their village concealed by the illusion of the Dead Forest. The houses resemble the head and hat of a typical black mage.
very well... the black mage village are one good idea from ffix to add ffxiv
never thinked of blm race a playable race but a npc race

If you never wanted the Blackmages to be a playable race, there must have been some missunderstanding here.

If you want to see some refrences to FFIX and specially to one beloved blackmage, I recommend you do the Hillidibran-quest in Heavensward - you might end up meeting a little mammet you know...
