I actually really liked that card, cuz I got 144 hz screen with bundle deal $100 off monitor, but had to return all of it. It even ran 1440 on low/med, but the thing was so unstable. Shame, cuz all my friends other games skyrim etc... worked nicely on that card, its that FF don't like AMD lol...

I'd love a 144hz monitor. Hopefully, I can swing one sometime later this year.

While Direct X issues with XIV do plague AMD cards more often, this time around, there's a much more even mix of AMD and nVidia having issues. It's probably more of a 60/40 split this time, whereas it usually has a higher rate with the AMDs.

I managed to somewhat stabilise the game. I ran the Windows Troubleshooting App, and it made the suggestion of trying Windows 8 compatibility instead of the Windows 7 that has been touted by staff on this forum. That let me play for just over two hours before my first crash, and I also didn't immediately crash when I logged back in afterwards. So it has somewhat decreased the frequency of the crashes, but hasn't eliminated them completely. I still feel like it's going to need to be something on SE's end to fix this mess.

A family member offered to get me a new video card, though I'm trying to hold off on that, even if it would be nice to upgrade again. It took a bit of work to find a card in the price range given, that either meets or surpasses an R9 Fury, but I found a GTX 1070 within that range. Despite feeling this is an issue specifically with the game's code, I'm tempted to accept because I do 3D rendering, and nVidia's Iray is the current rendering darling. Having an nVidia card would let me use my CPU and GPU for rendering, whereas not forces me to rely solely on CPU power.

It's really too bad about your not being able to keep that 144hz screen. They're smooth as butter.

I've been having this issue since I installed the game - juuuust about a month ago?

And sadly I'm not like, super tech literate (I'm not like clueless but definitely a lot of the info wanted/that helps in these posts flies over my head), so I've mostly just been reading others threads on this issue since I don't even know where to begin on posting my own. I:

I do know my card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 or whatnot though so like yeah, I can't seem to find a consistent thread (aside from Direct X itself) as for why folks seem to be having these crashes. Even mine are inconsistent - I've definitely had a few days with no or minimal crashes, but others it's like every other minute and there's no consistent triggers. It's really frustrating, given I love the game and I've been playing it with people who bought it specifically so I could play with them. : /

I wanted a 1070, but microcenter had none in stock lol, and I didn't have the cash for 1080 territory, so the 1060 is a stepping stone for later this year, right now temporarily I'm playing on a 55inch 4k sony TV, in 1080p lol...

yes both card manufacturers are having issues, it is def client side I believe after reading hundreds of posts/threads ... >< Also excited I could use new rig for GIS, and maybe get masters degree soon...
but yes, maybe one day 144hz with 1440p is my dream. Good luck on your new card and the silicone lottery!

One other thing I'll put out there - not sure if its relevant. I looked more closely at your system log. Two items of interest. Our versions of windows are different? and I am using older drivers.

    Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 17134) (17134.rs4_release.180410-1804)

    Driver File Version: 23.21.0013.8813 (English)
    Driver Version: 23.21.13.8813
    Driver Date/Size: 10/26/2017 4:00:00 PM

and yes - too much USB can pull down the power supply. Just had a friend who plugged four things into a hub and then plugged that into the PC where all the other USBs were full. If you plugged it in after the PC booted no problem. But if it was plugged in before - no boot. Totally reproducible once we figured it out. The solution was to use the power adapter that was provided with the hub. Guess that was provided for a reason

Thank you for the reply Chaotic_Darkfae.

I will escalate this information as you requested in your first post. However, if you are still getting the error after doing a clean install of the OS, the game and all drivers, we may be looking at a hardware issue. As such, I can't guarantee that this will result in the error being resolved for you.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Einmimiria I bought a new upgraded system to try and correct this problem. Its only gotten worse in its frequency This is not a faulty hardware issue. My system info can be found in a reply to the OP above. Included is a recent dxdiag log. Hope this helps.

Update 2-23-2019 I have reverted to old troubleshooting practices I learned while performing Avionics Maintenance for the U.S. Air Force. I turned everything off on my PC except for the game. This included my Anit-Virus protection. The game has been running fine. This alone tells my that these crashes are a compatibility problem between the game, How DirectX-12 is utilized in the game and other programs. not a hardware problem. I am slowly bringing back programs that I use and will do so until I can duplicate the crash cycle again. When I reach that point I will report those findings Hope this helps.
