Then if you do the first Alliance beastmen tribe quest there's a room/storefront that you can't enter in Ul'Dah which the devs seem to have forgotten about that's all about helping beastmen and looking into crimes against them.

The entire basis of this game story is about the distrust and mistreatment of the beast tribes, play wow if you want to a be furry, xiv is never going to have a playable one.
I'll admit I kinda lost interest in the BLU plot at some point (also was fighting food coma, since BLU came out in the evening my time after dinner), but if that's why they're allowed in Ul'dah... then I think it's safe for races like Lupin to be playable. Plus they can just say "it's a costume" if people are scared of them for whatever silly reason. The quest literally tells you why they're allowed in Ul'dah: Ul'dah barred beastmen out to drive out foreign market competition (ie. Goblins). The beastmen in the BLU quests are neither native to Eorzea/local nuisances (Amalj'aa) nor are they merchants (Goblins) so they get to stick around as part of the circus troupe.
Doesn't have controller support like FFXIV, so no.
If you talk to a crew member at Prima Vista after finishing the quest story he says that are two subraces of Viera, one dark skin and another light skin. So my opinion is that we will have only Fran body type Viera, and two different skin plate for each subrace, like Miqo'tes.
The Rava and Veena, as seen in FFXII.
The Horde had to get blood elves in TBC because the faction was at risk of dying out, and now blood elves are the second most played race behind humans. That list also doesn't include allied races, and void elves have grown to outnumber most Alliance core races.WoW's primary "ugly, but not too ugly" races are fairly well played - for being ugly.

It's definitely true pretty races get played more but imo SE has no really ugly (maybe it should be "different" than ugly but yeah..) / beast. Roe may vaguely pass that, but imo not at least in comparison to what I think of as such when thinking of other games (so.. maybe some people think we do already). I thought Au Ra might be that from concept art but I don't think so from what is currently available.
Anyway while I agree pretty, cute, standard = more popular I feel that the argument isn't as good in preventing ugly/beast at the moment because there is either only 1 or 0 (0 imo) races that meet that standard -meaning there is currently a void for one type of description and many for the other (the cute race population is going to share space with Viera when it comes out).
I didn't include the new alliance races because they're at the bottom of the graph(s) lol:

http://www.warcraftrealms.com/census.php
https://realmpop.com/
It's true that there was an imbalance in total players Horde vs Alliance until blood elves (they were not going to die out though, pvp presence was very strong), but that doesn't change my point that there are clearly people who play these ugly (for now on "different" as I don't mean purely "ugly" lol) races - which was my point. FFXIV doesn't have a faction system, so it isn't important that there was a faction imbalance in WoW when discussing if people play different races. There exists different races, they are played, they are not played as much as pretty races but to have zero different/beasty races means there is a void. So Imo of course it makes sense to have a few pretty races yet I don't think it is unreasonable to suggest that filling a void once in a while is not a bad idea either (which seems to be a popular thing against these races "pretty stuff is popular, no point to make something different").
The population breakdown before blood elves existed is probably best described by this (unless you can find an old warcraftrealms page some where):

Which is a pretty similar looking breakdown to what we have now, where there are a few core pretty races and then a bunch of people who do pick something else. I also would argue that it helps to have these races as they act as contrast to the other (pretty) races, rather than everything being a very similar color you can have a larger visual pallet (imo). Not that I'm suggesting "cancel" viera, god no lol - but that I think there would be a very unique value in SE getting around to filling this void (either via clan option(s) or new race).

RIP playable male Viera. Looks like they're getting the Mithra treatment.
