Just buy a bunch now?Oh good. x2 new consumable food items that we'll only be able to buy for $5 per item on the Mogstation after the event is over. -__-;
SE, seriously, if you're going to put seasonal food housing items in the game then for the love of all that's housing... PUT THEM ON THE SEASONAL VENDOR TO RE-BUY.
People don't actually eat these foods right? They are basically house cosmetics like eating the bowl of plastic fruit
Dont
Understandable they should be in the vendor next year but complain when it happens not a year in advance

The main problem with food furnishings is once you place them they cannot be removed from that house. At best they can be stored. Another issue is you can't set permissions for others with access to the house to be unable to use the food. I have heard of incidents in which a fc member ate all of the stacks of event food and it couldn't be bought again until it reappeared in the Mog Station several months later. They basically destroyed a furnishing that couldn't be replaced for a very long time.
So what the above means is you might have to buy quite a lot if you want to make sure you don't run out. There is a lot of event food in the game. It adds up fast.
I'm at the point in which I am annoyed when SE give us food furnishings for events. They're awkward to store and unless you are the only resident in your home someone else can literally ruin the furnishing. SE need to give us an option to prevent others from eating it, or to turn the food into a normal furnishing without storage limitations and cannot be consumed.
This year's event rewards are disappointing to me and a large reason why is the food. I don't play drk and I only lvled cul to get cross-class skills so I don't care about the class-based rewards. What's left for me are the furnishings but two out of three are food...so basically the doll is the only thing I can actually look forward to getting. Yay.

Anyone who didn't do the event last year can look at the chair mounts and think "that must have been from Valentione's Day".
No one unfamiliar with this year's event is going to look at the Gigas sword and do the same because the appearance does not fit the theme. It doesn't matter what the story is.
I do agree that this year's story could be amusing if those specific items are a part of the story but it still doesn't make them good rewards for the event.
That's been partially fixed. You can place and remove as long as none of the charges have been consumed.
I agree it's something I wouldn't want to do if the housing is shared with others. Someone accidentally eating a charge means you're screwed. I wish they would make them strictly decorative. Recipes for consumable versions could always be added to CUL.

A meal furnishing doesn't just disappear from its placement if all the servings are consumed. They need to be removed by the owner. You just can no longer get a meal effect from them. Event meals provide very little stat bonuses, and they are intended to be themed decorations for those who have eatery designs for their homes. Even if all the servings are taken, they still serve their purpose, and you can store them to bring out again at your leisure. The reason why this guild member over indulged is likely because these meals still provide the 3% exp bonus that all foods do.The main problem with food furnishings is once you place them they cannot be removed from that house. Some players such as myself have both DRK and CUL at max level, and still don't care for these items. I'd actually get more use out of the food decorations and doll because the weapons are just going straight into the armoire. So if your intention is to use the food items as décor, you're gold. But if you want food to be available to eat then why are you getting upset if people actually eat them?This year's event rewards are disappointing to me and a large reason why is the food. you sure about that? in my experience a fully consumed food just leaves the empty bowl/plate behindA meal furnishing doesn't just disappear from its placement if all the servings are consumed. Yeah, a meal furnishing disappears, which is how we got sinks (cake platters), "empty dishes", empty baskets, etc. before they finally decided to start giving us some of them as furnishings.

That's misleading. What happens is the furnishing turns into stuff like empty plates, empty baskets, empty cups and scattered cutlery. Sure the furnishing doesn't disappear but it literally changes into something else when all the stacks have been consumed. The food and drink disappears. Visually speaking it's no longer the same furnishing.
Which begs the question, why make it edible?
Well that's a step in the right direction. Thanks for the info.
