Restricting Egi Glamour to allow more glamour option

Definitely it could do with something to make it stand out as to what the type of pet it actually is, like an icon such as a shield, staff or sword perhaps for each one so players don't get confused and will know what it is.

Would it be possible to just let the Egi keep its name when glamoured?

Like, as far as I can tell, there's no actual reason that your Egi's name needs to be glamoured too. Just have Carbuncles running around called Ifrit-Egi, Titan-Egi and Garuda-Egi.

Leave the actual Emerald Carbuncle and Topaz Carbuncle names for the Arcanists who are summoning actual Carbuncles.

Though it's not so much a problem for the SMN themselves as they know what they summoned, but other players that may not be familiar with the job or pets might not know which is which. Who knows if they have pet names showing on the field (I don't because the pet is already in the party list), so they may not see the name anyway without specifically targeting the pet in question to find out.

Also SMN can still summon Carbys until they get so far with their relevant job quests and then they change in to the relevant Egis, so the names are not completely limited to Arcanist having them.

Well, having the pet name tied to what is actually summoned, rather than the glamour would mean that if someone wasn't sure on what summon the SMN was using, they could just target it and see the name. Irregardless of if say, Ifrit-Egi was glamoured into Ruby Carbuncle, Topaz Carbuncle or any other potential glamour that they introduce.

As for the second part, of course that was implied. Leave the Carbuncle names for the ACTUAL Carbuncles rather than also use them for glamoured Carbuncles.

I don't see the problem with restricting egi glamours at all really.

Its not like you can glamour Fire IV into Megaflare or Rage of Halone into Bloodspiller. Skills are what they are.

Ifrit > Ruby > Ravanna
Garuda > Emerald > Ramuh
Titan > Topaz > Bismarck

No problems telling what's what, no need to keep the correct names, and you summon what you need based on it's function, not just on it's aesthetics.

While we're at it:
Eos > Moonstone > Moogle (green/yellow pom)
Selene > Obsidian > Moogle (purple/red pom)

I wish we could address the problems with the pet's gameplay before we push for glamour options.

I don't care if it looks like a Carbuncle, a chicken or a moogle, I want it to cast Aetherpact when I press the button once.
