You shouldn't use Flying Sardine for OGCD weaving when Fire Angon and Sharpened Knife can do the same thing but with much better potency.Rotation, huh...
The best rotation I have so far as a BLU that works against everything is
[Prep Sequence]
Toad Oil -> Bristle
[Opening]
Off-guard -> Song of Torment -> [Flying Sardine:Peculiar Light] -> [Flying Sardine:Glass Dance] -> [Flying Sardine:Mountain Buster] -> [Flying Sardine:Eruption] -> Glower*6 ->
[Flying Sardine:Off-guard] -> Song of Torment -> Glower*3 -> [Flying Sardine:Eruption] -> Glower*6 ->
[Flying Sardine:Off-guard] -> [Flying Sardine:Peculiar Light] -> Song of Torment -> Glower -> [Flying Sardine:Mountain Buster] -> [Flying Sardine:Eruption] -> Glower*6 ->
And so on.
For long periods where you can prepare defenses for raid-wides, such as Shiva's and Leviathan's Transitions, you can throw up Mighty Guard and Diamondback. Drop Mighty Guard after the hit is soaked.
It's also always a DPS gain to use Bristle on Song of Torment.

They really should add Primal fights to the Masked Carnival for Blue Mage to solo. Even from a lore standpoint, they can find a way to justify it. Right from the start, we learn that Martyn has a pair of beastmen friends which can be used as setup for mutually beneficial dealing with other tribes. And let's not forget, the audience of the Masked Carnival aren't watching any ordinary Blue Mage. This is the Warrior of Light. Who wouldn't pay to see our famous warrior battle a Primal right before their very eyes? One summoned from a finite number of crystals for safety reasons, of course. That would make no difference to the audience. It's still bad for the environment you say? Nonsense! There's money to be made!
0/104 for ramuh

They already show the final opponent of the carnivale using several primal skills in the cutscene beforehand, and yet he doesn't do them in the actual fight. There's no reason they just couldn't have him do a random primal skill towards the end of the fight and let us learn them that way as well. You'd still have to grind him to see him use all the spells, but at least it wouldn't be primal farming/carrying. And of course just increase the damn learn rate across the board, because no matter how you go about learning them they're insultingly low as at it stands now.They really should add Primal fights to the Masked Carnival for Blue Mage to solo. That moment when you've seen 6-8 primal mounts drop but now your BLU Mage skill.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I have been farming primal spells all weekend, and I am missing 2,Titan and Ramuh. I have run Ramuh about 70 times and Titan over 200 times, and no luck. I did Ifrit about 60, Leviathan about 45 or so, and got lucky with Garuda at 20ish and Shiva only 16 times.
Needless to say the drop rates are beyond ridiculous, especially considering this job can only be used in the Masked Carnivale and 2.X content that isn’t in the Duty Finder.
I am finding myself quite upset and highly disappointed, as I was looking forward to this job. Even the content made specifically for it is more frustrating than fun, and only gives allied seals, poetics and a small amount of Gil. Once players have achieved their titles they won’t any real purpose to do Masked Carnivale again.
TL;DR: BLU is a lot of work for little reward, and may be the biggest disappointment since 1.0, imo.
I've been the player taking the 70 role more than I've been the BLU at this point. I've had one person not bail on me once they get the spell.If no one in your group is owning up to going lv70, then do it yourself. Show the group that someone among them is willing to carry, and you're likely to get one or two others to volunteer without even asking. It's possible you'll get an asshole that will ditch once they get it, but by far and large you're surrounded by decent people who will return the favor.
You're looking at spending an hour like this. Two hours or so if you're unlucky. Less than an hour with moderate luck. It's much better than spending the 6 hours you'd do with other plans.
On the note of time investment: 7 hours and counting into Garuda, and 2 into Ifrit, with nothing to show for it. Aside from my DRK mount I guess.
