Trouble getting spells for BLU.

For the purposes of farming level 5 petrify, get Final Sting and equip it.

Get to the final boss, take her down to 30% so she summons the adds, take the Manor Sentry (the ahriman) down to 20%, wait until it casts it then kill it.


If you do not learn it, just Final Sting one of the other adds to die and restart the fight to try again without having to do the dungeon again.

With Mighty Guard and White Wind it's quite easy to solo. It takes about 17 minutes, so it's not terrible, but I'm surprised that I'm having this much trouble learning a rank one spell. I've seen the boss cast it numerous times too.

I'll keep at it. I'm enjoying the job thus far. It's something nice to hold me over until Shadowbringers.

It's mostly just boring. Mighty Guard, White Wind, and 1,000 Needles makes it a very easy solo even at lower levels, but you still have to go through the full dungeon for one shot at learning a useless spell that's needed for the class quests.

I’ve heard if the Mob casts it more than once, it makes it harder to drop. I don’t know if that’s bull crap or not.

It’s really all about RNG. Some I get in 1 run, others multiple runs. I’ve run Titan a ton of times and nothing yet. I just did Ramuh and got it in about 3 tries. RNG is RNG. Most of the open world spells I got in 1 try accept Acorn which took an eternity.

She summons her adds at 30% and the eye will do petrify at 20%, if you dont get it, use one of your moves that kills you and try again. Just gotta keep trying till you get it, its not guaranteed.

Make sure to kill all the other adds first, and then the Manor Sentry. As people said, at 20% or less it will cast the spell.

Also the more BLUs on the party the higher chance to learn a spell. Soloing can be discouraging most of times, and slow.

I've heard this one, and some say the number of BLUs do not matter. If anything, these are all pure speculation. Even at the rate I got the primal spells, with 4, 6 or 7 BLUs in the party, I felt I was getting them at random.

For example, I did Shiva ex with 5 other BLUs and 2 non-BLUs and it took roughly 40 runs total. I did Titan HM in a party of 6 other BLUs (1 non) and never got it. We did like 40+ runs. Then I duo'd with a friend and I was the only BLU and got it on our second attempt...

Would there even be a way to find out if the game does a single roll or rolls individually for each player? I assume it's done server-side, so datamining wouldn't cut it.
