If Fran is anything to go by, absolutely. I've always wanted to be tall in game, but not a fan of the elezen. Oh..and if they have long hair..even better!

Don't count on it just because a unique NPC got long hair, though. Yugiri, Ysayle and Yotsuyu all have long hairstyles that players can't access. (Clearly you need to have a name starting with "Y", for a start...)
I figure it might be something to do with how the system handles hair physics? Maybe it can deal with one NPC built like that, but would have the computer equivalent of a nervous breakdown if it had to do those calculations for a whole crowd of players at once.
Fran's hair might not have quite as much motion to it, though. I wasn't paying attention, but was it more of a solid piece with less movement joints? Might be more possible then, but I still wouldn't expect it until I see it.
Even though I completely understand people that want the small cute male Viera, I think it doesn;t sit right with me when I think about the whole "meet to procriate every couple of years" ritual they have. If the female Viera are going to be like male Au Ras in height and general physique, at least to me it looks a little off to imagine that process. It's almost like trying to pair every single male Lalafell with a female Elezen and call them the same race. I know something sort of similar happens with male and female Au Ras, but there is something on that concept that just synergizes well compared to the Lala-looking male viera concept art being paired with Fran, who is supposed to be mating with that said guy at some point. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the aesthetic synergy between how Fran looks and how people want her male counterpart to look like.
I'd be okay if the males were like Balthier height compared to her though. He was "tiny" close to Fran, but not to the point of strugling to reach her waist.

Yugiri, Ysayle, Yotsuyu and Yran (that particular Y sounds like an F, as we all know).

I don't think people necessarily want lala Viera. I think it's more what you suggested with the males being closer to Hyur height. The people who are suggesting smaller males might mean more that they don't want hulking man-beasts that look like Roe.Even though I completely understand people that want the small cute male Viera, I think it doesn;t sit right with me when I think about the whole "meet to procriate every couple of years" ritual they have. Pretty much this for me, though I'd prefer male Miqo'te height and a little shorter. Small and slim. We already have tiny and cute covered by Lalafel.![]()

To my opinon, though, we already have a lot of slim male models between the midlanders, miquotes, elezen, and the au ra. If the male viera are supposed to be solitary survivors and defenders of the jungles, it would follow they'd be a bit beefier. Not nessicarily as large as a roe, but something more like a highlander. Personally that's still my hope since those who want a bulkier character really only have two choices as is.
Part of that may be from people wanting 'inverse au ra' where the females are short but the men are huge, wanting another not so tall male race.

Not necessarily, I'd say you probably want to be slim and agile in a jungle. To my opinon, though, we already have a lot of slim male models between the midlanders, miquotes, elezen, and the au ra.
