It's not the number of people in the sample that's the problem, it's the portion they represent. It doesn't matter if your sample is 100, 1000, or 10000, if everyone polled is a 20-25 yr old female, you're gonna get skewed results because that wont represent the population as a whole.

The players that go on forums and outside the game sources are not representative of the player base as a whole.

Pretty much this. The results were biased from the start. Taking a poll on a forum isn't even close to a random sampling of the general population. It's a random sampling of forum posters, who often have very different opinions compared to regular players.

It's easy to forget here on the boards where we talk about minutia and have in depth discussions about balance and endgame and the like, but most players don't care about those things at all. The vast majority of players spend the vast majority of their time not raiding. Reading internet threads it may feel like the entire community is up in arms about BLU not being able to raid or use the DF, but the reality is that most players probably don't care in the first place, and you just don't hear about it because those people aren't posting here.
