Adds a lot to the game. Can't wait to see more diversity in characters roaming our world. The game isn't all about dungeons, raids and trials.

After seeing the talk of dwarves implications on sex appeal and others wanting traditional D&D dwarves all I can do is post a clip from a horrible movie they made awhile back...

Discounting the value of new aesthetics like glamour and races just because you do not personally care is silly. If done right, new races are a huge boon to games with new players, returning players, and customers dropping money on fantasias. I know people who want to play Shadowbringers despite never having played before because "Fran hot. I wanna be Fran." SE will more than likely earn a ton of money via Viera, and that same money goes back into the game to give us more content. The saying "glamour is the true endgame" isn't there just for giggles.

At the same time, you can only be one race at a time. Once you've become a Viera, you've already burned through the "new" content, and if you didn't become a Viera, it's just background content. I would love to play as an Ivalice Moogle, but I also understand that each race means nearly all sets of armor have to accommodate them (and there are already so many sets of gear in the game). Add too many races and the game gets weighed down since every ring, every pauldron and every hat has to fit. More resources would have to be taken from elsewhere to accommodate every new race so we must all consider the cost/benefits from adding them.Discounting the value of new aesthetics like glamour and races just because you do not personally care is silly. Spending your entire time as the new race isn't what I call burning through the new content. Enjoying your new race could actually add more content depending on the player than a dungeon that gets left behind and discarded into the roulette.

True. But I'm willing to bet a new race takes several times the effort and man hours to create then a dungeon. And a dungeon that's forgotten won't actually take up any dev resources afterward.

It's true they have to consider the costs and benefits of a new race, which is why we're getting Viera over Lupin and Ivalice moogles. And you can use fantasias multiple times. I know I certainly have used over 20 fantasias over the course of this game, and I am by no means a fantasia addict. I've seen people swap races nearly every week.At the same time, you can only be one race at a time. It is most definitely content if you enjoy dressing up your character and alts, swapping races to try something different out, spending time in character creation, or (god forbid - rip this Balmung tag next to my name) make new characters to RP with.
Forgotten dungeons make no money. Races always make money. Money means more content that's worth doing like Ultimate, higher quality trials, MSQ, and new jobs.
Oh god I would love to see Moombas in FFXIV. Maybe not as a playable race, but definitely as a beast tribe. Or at the very least, as a pet minion. My fondest memories of FF8 was meeting them (And pissing them off by constantly bugging one of them at their village)
That all said, more than likely Rev. Though I personally am hoping for Ronso if the leaks are true.

I am not advocating for more forgotten dungeons. But I am pointing out they don't cost anything after implementation. Imagine if you will, had this game had 12 playable races, then you can start to see how the content for the races starting to eclipse everything else. A single helm would need 12 different variants on size (possibly 24 accounting for gender) along with accomodations for different ears and dozens of hairstyles. And all future and past helms would need this treatment.

I feel that would annoy a lot of people. They're not exactly the most well known race in the FF franchise and I imagine even the most die-hard FFXII fan forgets the Rev are even a thing (since they're almost as rare as male Viera. We only see two every 42 hours in the story, right?). Ronso, or the concept art for FFXI's Galka (yes, they could have been lionmen), or something new entirely are the most likely 'lion-like' race.
Still would prefer Lupin, or something that already exists on FFXIV and not something left for the absolute last second again. Heck, make the Bangaa playable. I know people would absolutely love them to be playable (not a fan of their XII design, but hey. They're more well known/popular than the Rev).
