Devs shouldn't give up on races after Viera.

My thoughts currently in regards to races is that with the exception of lalafells which are pretty much the same size regardless of gender every race's males are larger than the females. We need one IMO that this is reversed. Maybe Viera will fill that role if its added.

We do have a number of other races to pull from out of previous games. A number may not work as player characters though due to design. Example headgear could be a headache in trying to make bangaa a playable race.

I would like Ronsos, FF12 Moogles, and Dwarves be playable races. Oh and Burmecians although I think the Qiqirin might be FF14's Burmecians.

I really want Moombas as a beast tribe tho. Maybe the Quena Race as a beast tribe?

I'm sorry? If we were to get dwarfs in this game, I'd like them to be D&D type dwarfs (or those from Lord of the Rings) and not whatever FFIX barfed out (also I would play WoW if it had controller support matching FFXIV's, but it doesn't... I'd also play the Panda or Tauren race, because at least WoW has variety when it comes to playable races :^) ).

I wouldn't worry to much, seeing how many developers choose to represent Dwarves in more modern mmorpg's many will be happy to get their jail bai... er... Small characters...

I personally do not want something as simple as a dwarf. If they did them, and had a FFIV inspired story to go with them, then okay. They just better be as unique as the XIV races. Even the Elezen have a fun take on the elves that I find fresh.
