While I kinda can understand people using story jump pots (esp. for the ARR post-2.0 part) using job pots is a very idea IMHO. Even for a dps running roulettes and dungeons it doesn't take too long to level up and you actually learn how your class works and ticks along the way, an experience you won't get with a job jump pot. I would never use such a pot.
It's a bit out of proportions. Grinding up to level 60- experience is far more than what is needed to master a job level 60. Especially because you actually get a sense of your job in the latest levels. From 1 to 50 it is clunky most of the time.
And there are players that don't buy job potions and play equally bad at max level.

I think it's ok the way it is, you don't get max level, and the game itself offers a lot of content to train your new job. You can't expect people to do it of course.

You're forgetting that people want to play with their friends hence why they get them, my friends for example, were MMO players who cared little for story so they skipped it. Someone who skips a job isn't missing much tbh, look at MCH for example nothing dynamic happens until lvl 62 when you can finally manually control your heat, not to mention it's one of the most complex jobs that even while leveling you can't optimize it. You'll have to take off Gauss Barrel off and on unless you wanna Overheat randomly, it's clunky and is still clunky to this day, another example is DRK it's whole kit revolves around TBN and Blood at lower levels it's literally like playing a PLD and is still a tank, the only difference is you can't use Blood until you get Delirium. Let's also not forget DRG who has 1-2-3 until level 40 something who gets an AoE that's not hard to learn.

So even if someone skips the job potion it doesn't really mean anything it's up to the player to decide what they wanna play, skills, and if they want to use them the game generously spells out what combo is which, what AoE does what, people have to read it's not about feeling the class out in Satasha when everything is vastly different in 50+ content because lets face it, everything under lvl 50 is pretty braindead to figure out.

If you start on a preferred world with a road to 60 buff, then a job potion is indeed pointless. With double EXP you'll hit level 60 in no time, and less than no time for your subsequent jobs as you'll get +300% EXP.

Oh right. Sorry when I got in my Razer Trinity was interacting weirdly with my hotbars and I was trying to figure out why. I didn't notice until I got in there, i eventually had to switch the wheel off for for standard 2 button side clip on.

Ok folks settle in for some laughs maybe. Got Aurum Vale for leveling with a squishy and semi unexperienced for that dungeon pld. We wipe maybe 3 times in the first room where the ninja purposely d/cs but I didn't know that til they came back in hoping we'd of kicked em and they didn't take my raise. So during the 1st boss I said then just leave which they did but only to purposely d/c again. They never logged back in. So during the 2nd boss I d/c which meant another wipe as I was healing and the other dps was a blm. I come back in apologize and we wipe two more times before the last boss while kind of joking about it all. We wipe on the 3rd boss only due to too many babies spawning and I can't help because lol gravity is 52 so I asked the pld if they had Total Eclipse as I do know it's a pre 50 aoe I just didn't know how low you had access. Anyway we manage to finish the run and I learned the burn stack caps at 9.

Farm party for Seiryu. OT wipes group during the tankswap and right away types "LAAAGG." Next pull, the same tank wipes at the exact same mechanic. We kicked him.

It was a WHM from Phoenix with a different name (SMN was of Phoenix as well, and WAR from Cerberus). Seems like this kind of things can happen more often than i thought XD

I got to do the new story dungeon and it was kind of weird. I didn't see any complaints about it on the forums, so I just went in blind as bard. We blazed through so fast that I don't remember any boss mechanics or specific enemies. The tank wasn't stopping for anything. The other dps (ninja) was new while the white mage and dark knight were not. I get out of cut scene and everyone already has protect so I assume the ninja just skipped the scene? We do big pulls with the white mage not bothering to holy and the ninja having a suspicious amount of extra tp.

On I think the first boss I ended up dying to a mechanic. I get a rez after a bit only to sit there with half hp and second wind on cooldown. One room wide aoe and I was dead again. I get a hardcast rez and we are off again, this time with a couple holys from the white mage. Last boss we wiped because the healer and I end up getting caught up in a mechanic and dying. We both head back to the boss as the tank and ninja die and the white mage just stands at the entrance and spams protect. So I finally got protect on me.

I'm pretty sure the healer and tank were part of a pre-made party. I would have given the tank a commendation, but the only one left when I got out of scene was the ninja. I'll have to look when I get back home. Hopefully I can re do the dungeon with a party finder or something to go a bit slower and be able to look around.

Duty finder has been killing me with the wait times for orbonne monastery (as a tank) since release. Queueing as a DPS gets you in right away but if you're trying to get tank gear then good luck. You'll be sitting around for 30+ minutes and only then get offered a party in progress, not even a fresh party.

Yeah, I'm planning to level Bard to 70 and then level a healer and a tank, and I'm not even considering Astrologian and Dark Knight at this time because they start at a higher level. I'd really prefer to start from level 1 and try to get the most basic concepts of those two roles learned first.

Oh, I had a good experience with the Duty Finder last night! Sirensong Sea came up in my MSQ. I had my first experience of actually taking aggro off the tank; this happened a few times, but the tank we had was great, and he quickly got those mobs back off me every time. I was trying a new tactic for trash pulls; I was tabbing through the mobs, putting both of my DoTs on all of them, then using Mage's Ballad to get lots and lots of Rain of Death procs. Nobody died once in that dungeon, not even me! It bummed me out a little when everyone left immediately once the last boss was down and the portal opened; I really would've liked to give that tank a commendation.

Then again, the healer was great, too; I guess they spared me the trouble of having to choose between them.
