Viera Race "Confirmed" for 5.0! Are you gonna change races?

I hope Vieras will look like Fran... Yugiri is slightly different looking than regular Au ras but still the same so I don't see why they would make the characters look wacky from Fran. Maybe the "light skin" Viera will look smaller or something? I just hope they don't mess this up like they did with Au ras and make them small and cute as well.

you know two tribes female looking only males practically non existent, main difference between the two tribes are colour, and they never leave the forrest, i am getting a beast tribe vibe from them D:

also sucks if they are playable it is the plain design from ff12 and not the more funner look of tactics with the more rabbit like features. (or the humming way)

but seeing how the virea is shown during a patch i feel the fanest is going to have a big surprise to us you don't reveal a good hand with nothing to back it up so i wonder what's up there sleeve.

The lore they set out does sound more like a beast tribe than a playable race as they are far more inhuman than any of the other races. I confess that I don't like Virea but if they are going to be playable race I think they should have toned them down rather than just hammering the FF12 ones into the game.

Yeah, I mean I do quite like Viera, but I want to see a unique FFXIV spin on them yet, not just transplanted pretty much like for like from XII.

While I am not excited for the Viera as a new race and certainly won't play one, I am glad if they are indeed all based on the XII Viera, if Fran is any indication. I'm glad that it's not another cutesy race and that the females can actually be quite tall.

Also completely funny because Lakshimi needed a change in appearance because she was not cute enough in Yoshidas eyes...but seemingly only females are allowed to be cute...

Still if we get Vieras like Fran then I wonder why they went back on their "its just too similiar to other races" since they are just Elezen with bunny ears (or at least Fran is).

(And yes I am still a bit sad that we wont get Lupin. They would at least have much more differences to other races)

Viera have been in a state of partial development for 2-3 years at least, on top of having immense player demand. Adding them prints fantasia money. With the story seemingly leading us to Dalmasca, with several XII characters involved(Ashe, Gabranth, Fran, Balthier), they kill 3 birds with one stone.

Fran's model is at least largely ripped from FFXII, though it seems like her face and hair were redone. It's safe to assume that she'll be used as a template for the dark-skinned clan(Rava?), but we don't know how closely the player versions will match.

Yoshi's complained about male Viera being too cute.
The gender of a Viera isn't known until 13 (Implying some kind of drastic change in form).
If they're using real-life rabbits as a source of inspiration, male rabbits are normally smaller than female rabbits.

I assume the differences between the clans will be not so dramatic like any race until now. We already know one of them has darker skin tones and one fairer, I assume one might also be slightly smaller, maybe smaller ears, too, or more fluffy. And then maybe stuff like markings. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of them, so I can decide which of the clans intrigues me more.

I don't think that picture of what is obviously a child, shown alongside another female child viera which was cropped out, will look anything like a male viera. According to what we've seen so far, they're rugged loners that are tempered by their time surviving in the wilds. The adult concept art is more similar to what I believe we'll see, perhaps with them having more long haired racial hairstyles being why they might be associated with lion manes.
