The most common "error" I would've expected would have been if I used a mouseover macro without a target, but apparently that's a different type of error (a syntax error, because <mo> is not a valid target, rather than an ability error). If I do stuff to force myself to error out a combat ability, I still get the red text onscreen.

Still, I would implore you to reconsider the type of macros you're talking about. If it was just a slight performance penalty, I'd say okay, you do you as long as it's casual content. But it's a huge hit, I'm sorry to say. Several lost GCDs over the course of a fight just to the latency, but even worse is the fact that you're not going to be able to get a last hit off before you need to move, or a heal (who am I kidding nobody uses GCDs to heal) before someone dies. I know there's some pretty bad ability bloat in this game on many jobs. My Paladin has 49 main combat-use hotkeys. But if you build muscle memory on macros that will fail you later on down the line, you're going to have a lot of re-learning to do.
I totally agree, never stack abilities/spells in macro's. Yes there's bloat but good muscle memory can overcome. OP, if you have squadrons unlocked it's a great way to test everything out, from macro's to keybinds. I don't advocate buying expensive peripherals just for a game but since you must be on PC (WoW) and you seem serious a decent MMO mouse with a 12 key thumbpad and a programmable shift key is....like looking on the faces of the Twelve. If you use one already ignore xD

Ya, I never specified classes on my posts..but imo <mo> should only be used for healing classes. Mainly since sustained gcd casting is not often an issue. Like I did say, gcd queue does not work with <mo> that I can tell. I decided it was worth it due to quicker targeting on PC, console players seem to have an easier time scrolling up and down the party list. My method may not be the best, or for everyone but it works for me, and those I do not kill intentionally

I do have mouseovers on my DPS jobs for Goad, Mana Shift, Apoctastasis, etc. but given these are off globals and I won’t be double weaving them, the extra latency associated with them being macro’d is just GCD downtime anyway.
