I think we could do with a third free retainer for Shadowbringers, particularly for Omni-crafters considering we're bound to get a few hundred more materials. I don't think that's asking to much.
I didn't realize the exchange rate got so bad until I read thisPretty much this.
While I hate the fact that I play a game with a sub that also has aggressive cash shop promotions, being "unique" is a very common trope among AAA game today. So it's not uncommon to see developer take advantage of this need by promoting said "unique" items behind real monetary value. People will always want to feel special and different in anything they do so its only smart business to charge those who want a little more. Unfortunately the minority who do buy from the mogstation basically dictate the price which is why you continuously see the prices go up. I remember when emotes used to cost $5 but that was a few years ago.
I voted with my wallet and only pay for the sub, sadly $20 CAD a month now, which is starting to get expensive.![]()
Now this I can agree with. I can get by with 2 retainers, but I have 4 just to have 1 of each.
Nothing. They are just straw clutching at this stage for arguments sake.
Some of the posters here are taking their own personal opinion and random thoughts as fact and will keep replying until everyone agrees with them.
The thing is i would be on their side if it was genuinly affecting gameplay or development in a negative way but it simply hasnt and until that changes i'm opposed to the kind of people who throw angry pitchforks at companies anytime they sell something virtual for real money.
I honestly feel sorry for the companies because they must be geting sick of this garbage that seems to go on with nearly every single game these days.
Well, you shouldn't feel sorry for the companies. They will exploit the customer as much as they can (price hikes) until they can't get more out of it. People are over here acting like a 24-30 dollar mount is bad. Look at ESO, where they have 45 dollar mounts LIMITED, 20-30 dollar LIMITED outfits, 10+ dollar emotes (or whatever they are called I cannot remember), crafting boosts, LIMITED everything. On top of that ESO is a pseudo b2p game it's still sub-based with what a sub offers, imho. This games shop is really not that bad. 7 dollar emotes? I don't think you need them.Nothing.They are just straw clutching at this stage for arguments sake.

I updated the post he quoted to include some examples regarding inventory expansion. Anyone with an MMO background (in pay to play AAA titles) expects inventory expansion to be part of the game. I can't think of a single subscription MMO where this *isn't* the case. If all you play is single player JRPGs and social/mobile games, maybe this is foreign to you. Otherwise you're just ignoring the collective experience of basically everyone who has played MMOs from The Realm to M59 to UO to EQ to SWG to DAoC to FFXI to . . . yeah, I can't think of a single subscription-based MMO where inventory expansion was or is a paid premium.Nothing.They are just straw clutching at this stage for arguments sake.

You say it's not affecting gameplay or development, but just because you haven't noticed the evidence of it doesn't mean it's untrue. You're welcome to read my post further above where I explain the preponderance of evidence supporting my claim.
The very fact that we don't have expansion quests, or vendor-purchasable bags, or crafted bags, or anything remotely like that, in-game, is its own proof that the desire to monetize it as a premium service affected the original game design. Every other game in this category has it, you researched those games to make this one, and then decided not to? Why not? Dollar signs.
VVV
You're not wrong. I don't care about the $7 emote and it has nothing to do with my argument.

A $7 emote on Xmas does not affect you playing XIV for better or for worse. If that were the case, than maybe 90% of the playerbase should buy said emote so people can stop eating the floor in Omega already.

I honestly have no clue what "point" you are trying to make.
I didn't know you could buy inventory space in the mogstation, AND on top of that this game gives you a gigantic amount of inventory space for free compared to those other games (that unlock to roughly the amount we have). If you are referring to retainers as "bags" then you get like 350 slots for free on top of the 145 or whatever it is inventory space. So, this game gives you a ton of space, and you would rather have them locked behind bags you get later? On top of that retainers aren't even bags they are retainers, that do much more than hold your junk.

Maple Story. (Sure, you can play free, but if you want to get anywhere, you may as well sign your name towards their Cash Shop and consider that your sub basically.)
But, in all seriousness, pretty sure vanilla Ragnarok Online was one of them.

I don't know what to tell you except that to participate in the conversation you're going to have to read the thread. Everything you're acting confused about has been discussed, by me and others, over the past half dozen pages.
