    Question about Fordola [Possible Spoilers]

    Hey all,
I dont know if this has already been asked. If so then I'm sorry. There might be spoilers ahead for stormblood. I just came back from a bit of a hiatus and I was doing the quest where the Ananta summon their primal in the throne room and the WoL with a scion use the echo to stop her tempering. Then she goes to unleash a huge amount of aether and the WoL and scion cant block it but Fordola manages to. My question is, is Fordola's resonance stronger than our Echo? Or was that just for cinematic purposes?
    Thanks in advance!

I imagine that it's the latter. Is it the simple 'boring' answer? Probably so ha ha.

Agreed on "cinematic purposes". When Lakshmi sent a single wave, The WOL and Arenvald blocked it no problem with just a bubble and geometry. The second time, she stopped sending orbs out in a long and random barrage and fired them all at once, over our heads, and into the crowd. But the fact they don't even move as the orbs fly over their heads show that the cutscene team was primarily focused on the dramatic interception on Fordola's arrival.

Can I use this thread to say how disappointed I am of what is becoming of Fordola ?

She was legit my favourite character from Stormblood, although she has some of the "evil vilain clichés", her character had a striking progression during 4.0 for me, as she was getting rid of more and more of herself and humanity, it was almost tragic. Ultimately to fail against us. And the 4.1 patch slight focus on her background and her current situation had me so motivated. I was expecting her to somehow come back in MSQ through that Shadowhunter (I actually still hope for that).
But that short text in Tales of the Storm looked like a rushed way to get rid of her, I'm a bit sad

That was my fear, as well, upon reading the Tales from the Storm story. A way to assure folks that yes, Fordola's on the slow path to rehabilitation, now, let's get back to the IMPORTANT stuff. Since Fordola WAS "important stuff" to me, that rankled, no lie. It's certainly not impossible that she may show up again, but the Tales really did feel like a way to put the character on a bus.

The sourest part of the cocktail was that they didn't even bother to put her exit IN GAME. Folks that don't read or don't even know about these supplementary materials aren't going to have any closure at all on the character. One moment, she's the hero of the day - the next, she's never spoken of again...

Hmmm maybe not in the msq but maybe in the summoner 70-80 questline as it does seem like she's working with the flame's summoner squad. Or maybe she does get back to the msq because we need more people with the echo to tag along so that we're not so alone when/if that voice keeps on knocking out all of our other friends who don't have the echo.

Fordola was no more put on a bus then the rest of the characters in Ala Mhigo in 4.1. We haven't heard anything about what is going on in Ala Mhigo since then (maybe the little bit at the end of 4.4). I wouldn't say Fordola's character has been forgotten unless she gets ignored in 4.5. If she is, then I'd start being worried.

I didn't get the impression at all that Fordola's story was meant to be an "ending" or writing her out of the game. It's an update on what she's doing, and it establishes the concept of her being a conscripted soldier long before (and perhaps in more detail than when) they'll actually bring her back into the main game.

The side stories support the game, but they're not "required reading". The game's narrative has to stand alone, and Fordola's story there hasn't yet reached a conclusion.

I'm of the same opinion. I didn't see her story as an ending, really more as an update. I'm not totally sure where she'll end up yet. Given her close connection with Arenvald, the Echo connection, our current lack of allies due to soul shenanigans, and the admitted difficulties of keeping her around Ala Migho, I wouldn't be shocked if she ended up joining the Scions. Forgiveness and reconciliation seems to be a big theme in the game, with villains like Nidhogg and Yotsuyu who refuse to and heroes like Aymeric, Gosestsu, and Lyse who choose to. I also wouldn't be shocked if she heroically sacrificed herself or something and found redemption through death. I hope it's the former, especially to create a clearer contrast with Yotsuyu's tragic end, but I can't be certain at this point.

And they definitely don't assume you've read the stories. For example, they reestablished the backstory of Kan-E-Senna's bodyguard since it only came up in one of the stories.

I pretty much assumed that that particular excerpt from Tales From the Storm was basically just a "here's what she and Arenvald's gang have been up to while you were sorting things out in Doma" kind of thing. I never got the sense that it was an ending to her's or the others' stories. I'm positive there's more in store for her, and I have strong expectations that she'll meet the Shadowhunter in the near future. I'm anxious to see what she'll do when that happens.
