One would hope so, but, there are times that balance attempts in MMOs comes in ways players don't expect or understand. Not a fan of "break one thing to make something else look better" or "nerf through simplification" but I've seen it in other games more than once or a dozen times.

Hit Invigorate on cooldown, every two minutes. Nuance? None save when approaching significant downtime, and without any disbenefit enough to bother with that consideration, even, in raids. Yet this is what we preserve...
So you see no chance of trying to make those ranged jobs more interesting? The MCH fans have some amazing ideas on how to revitalize that job. Oh well. Too much speculation without evidence anyway, I suppose.

And back to the topic of the thread, is it just me or has anyone else had a recent wave of really patient, mostly competent people running roulettes lately? I mean, not "everyone remembers everything for the instance" or "no one ever make a mistake and causes a wipe", but more "things generally go OK and when they don't people take it well and move on".

Thanks for helping make the FFXIV community a fun and welcoming place. If you're not sure you have (and you very likely have), make it a point to be patient or helpful the next time you log in so that you can know you've made a difference.

If you're on the Aether data center, congratulations! I might be your next exciting adventure healer in the Duty Finder. Please look forward to it.

Can confirm. I'm an "average" WAR at best and I can hold aggro in about every situation, and if I can't it's literally my fault. Even if I die, it's because I decided to pull more than I could chew, but I could keep them all on me, so I got that going for me. :P

Last night I found a gem while leveling up my nin.

I decided to drag my friend into more suffering by getting my nin through Cutter's Cry. We get in, and party setup was NIN (me), WHM (my friend), RDM, and GLA. Yes, GLA. We look at the party HUD and wondered why there's the GLA icon, and we look at our tank. Full shire gear, no stone, 70 pld in his search. The tank claims he does not know how to tank, doesn't know anything about the dungeon. We ask him to put his soul stone on, and no reply from the tank. I realize I'm going to be stuck using mostly Raiton and riding Diversion unless our tank can get his sh*t together.

The hallway before the first boss, the tank dies by standing in Self-Destruct aoes three times, and my tanking classes on all my characters cringe. We managed to get through to the second boss after the tank body aggroed the side hallway, and we bring down the first boss before my friend got overrun with adds.

Up until the second boss, hate was bouncing around quite a bit, and at that point the random RDM had enough and left the party. We got a BRD replacement and gave the tank a bit of a heads up on the worm boss before he runs in and body aggros it. I ended up tanking for a bit before the GLA realizes 'oh hey, that's my job' and pulls hate away from me finally. Our wonderful tank had the idea to get next to the boss whenever he would pop out of the sand, thereby eating a ton of damage. Every. Single. Time.

We finally down it and get through to the third area and up to the last boss. I tell him about the blue eye/violet eye mechanic, and he replies with 'ok'.

The amount of times the tank would get caught in the blue eye mechanic I actually lost count. My friend asked me in discord whether or not our tank really likes frosty balls after we down the boss and leave. Yes, yes he does, my friend.

So pretty much the WAR just flatout sucked and tried to make them a scapegoat to justify their incompetence

Personally I would've just screenshot his tirade in chat, leave the instance, blacklist and report the guy immediately.Sure it's not guaranteed that the GMs would take actions but at the very least if they did it would be more damaging to him than risking a potential ban by lashing back at the asshat tank

I wish rescue had shorter cooldown, since apparently people can get all the way O10N without knowing what a stack marker is...

I think my biggest pet peeve using the duty finder is using it late at night. Unfortunately I have to because my FC is dead during the hours I play and I don't have time to play during the day. In the majority of groups one dps is chatting the other is following the healer and the healer is watching netflix. So you wind up having to burn through potions for the first 15 minutes of the dungeon because you're stuck there doing it yourself or you take the 30 minute debuff. I came back to the game last month but after so many dungeons of people just being stupid I'm about done with it to be honest.

I also had a WAR who couldn't control his aggro in my expert roulette this weekend. Pulls between bosses were mostly fine but at bosses, he would go into Deliverance>Vengeance>Shake it off>tomahawk and then ??
Which would have been fine if I was on any other job than Bard and had access to Diversion. On the first boss I burned both refresh to get aggro back the tank, got it back again during Mages, tactician and then got it back again in Armys...
Ended up being the tank for the 2nd and last boss again bc I just gave up trying to avoid aggro and the tank didnt even try to get aggro back. I didn't see the provoke or ultimatum animations, he wouldnt swap back to defiance to even try doing an aggro combo etc.

    Yoshi please if Tactician is gonna go, please give us Bards Diversion ;~;

    Is this...seen as a negative thing? O_o

I chat a ton when running roulettes. Do you just mean "chatting instead of DPSing"? It obviously varies depending on class but it's quite easy to type a lot between GCDs and between pulls. Now I wonder if some randos were sitting there scowling and thinking I wasn't pulling my weight haha

Yeah I was a bit weirded out by that too.

Like in old instances of course I'm gonna chat cuz I ran those places to death during roullettes

I made it a habit to shout "PULL THE LEVER KRONK" everytime we get to the lever section in Rabanastre xD.

Also chat is the only thing that keeps my sanity during runs of the Pretorium cuz good lord I get that place everytime I queue for MSQ roullette instead of Castrum Merdianum
