It's time for Diamonds to play with Golds again and Platinums with Silvers

Diamond ques are currently are almost just extinct. The fact that Diamond has only platinum players to draw from, which is objectively the second least populated tier in the Feast, just makes ques a nightmare to achieve once people hit Diamond rank.

People may have complained that as a Diamond player they did not want to play with Gold players, but why should that matter when the alternative is to have pretty much no games pop?

The game simply just doesn't have enough players playing The Feast to sustain the current matchmaking system where Platinums no longer play with Silvers or Diamonds no longer play with Golds.

It also creates a situation where Diamond ques take a majority of the Platinum players and Gold/Platinum games never happen or vice versa with Golds taking the Platinums. It just doesn't work!

It NEEDS to go back to the way it was prior to the current system with Platinum playing with tiers down to Silver and Diamonds playing with players down in Gold Tier. Otherwise the ques will just suffer and it will just be a cycle of people being scared off from ques because no ques pop, which in turn makes it EVEN WORSE.

I agree the matchmaking could use a bit of work. However if Diamond were to suddenly get matched with Gold players you may run into a situation where Diamond tier players only get those gold players just finishing their silver to gold qualifiers.
so you would end up with like a team like this:

Gold Healer- 550 Ranking
Diamond DPS- 2050 Ranking
Gold Tank- 1200 Ranking
Platinum Ranged- 1514 Ranking

Because getting from 0->500 Is so forgiving the odds of ending up with a healer that just spammed the que would pretty high. The diamond que would be a lot similar to Season 2 matchmaking in a lot of ways.

I think to solve this problem the Gold Tier would need to be split.


So basically you split gold up into like Gold and Rose Gold ranks


gold and rose gold are counted as one tier. However, Rose Gold tier players can match with diamond tier players.
For example:

Unranked can que with Unranked, Bronze, and Silver
Bronze can que with Unranked, Bronze and Silver
Silver can que with Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Rose Gold
Gold can que with Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, and Plat
Rose Gold can que with Silver, Gold, Rose Gold, Plat and Diamond
Plat can que with Gold, Rose Gold, Plat, and Diamond
Diamond can que with Rose Gold, Plat, and Diamond

As for the ranking requirement to go from gold to rose gold it should be the same as the lower tiers instead of 500 to advanced it would be 250.

I don't think that'll help at all, it'll make games more cancerous/unfair.
there is no lack of players in plat/diamond rank.
I do believe introducing decay should help make the feast more active.

People just wouldn't queue because the matches won't be fun. We have enough Plat players, they just need an incentive to play more once they're safe.

This. It's needed rank decay since the start, but it's never happened.

no. Add rank decay and fix the reward structure first. Besides the same old hellhound weapons you're effectively wasting your time queuing for ranked if you don't make it into the top 100

I agree that rank decay will help the higher ranks get pops, but if you feel like you're wasting your time unless you get top 100 then rank decay won't help with that one bit.

Isn't this a lot of the problem with the way they have built the feast if your not pushing for top 100 there are no rewards outside the hopefully fun of the match and the weapons.

Correct! People need the carrot on the stick these days, if there's not a good enough carrot then it doesn't matter how fun it is.

IE: Eureka. Big easy carrot. Not so fun of a grind.

But rank decay will not help people in the low rank whatsoever with how the current matchmaking is.

Ava's idea is a better short term fix on low pop nights. Rank decay does not do much when there are not enough people playing.

The real goal for SE is to reach out and get new players involved so there are new players Feasting. After that, the community needs to be better at teaching or communicating with new players (or if you are bad at communication, just focus on bettering yourself so the new players can observe).
