    Heck, the main reason we're getting Blue Mage as it is seems to be more because they want to go the Final Fantasy V route by giving it fairly stupid spells that just don't balance well... It really doesn't remind me of XIs Blue Mage at all... In XI they made Blue Mage fit the XI system, where you just had a ridiculous amount of spells, usually learned via using Scrolls, Blue just had a unique way of learning its spells and a unique way of using them (setting them for stat boosts and combinations formed traits/etc.)... I see no reason XIV couldn't have done more or less the same thing; Add Blue Mage in a way that fits with XIV. If we have Summoner as the horribly crippled Job that it is (as far as the Summoner theme goes, at least) then I see no reason why Blue should be any different...
    That was a general reply to the topic title. I'm very aware that most of the jobs in XIV came from the FF series in general. All I'm basically saying is they can introduce whatever job they want, as long as its not Limited. it's a dumb concept and I hope that BLU is the first and last.

    What does that have to do with XI though? I'll never fully understand the XI hate in these forums...

    I agree on Blue Mage though. Tried to give it a fair chance, but the more I thought about it, the more it's just incredibly... Meh... It could be fun in the same way collecting Triple Triad cards is fun, but even if that is the case that's only fun for a short period of time... I'd much rather have had a fully fleshed out Blue Mage, and the excuses the developers gave for implementing it like this just miss the mark IMO... There's no reason this couldn't be a proper Job with a unique gauge mechanic that's true to the spirit of Blue Mage... My Summoner doesn't do much Summoning (pls rename to Draco Mage, since it's just Bahamut-channeler at this point), and I've yet to see my Dark Knight sacrifice HP for a damage boost, so I don't see why Blue Mage is suddenly impossible... I actually kind of like how different Dark Knight is to past versions, and part of the joy of seeing new Jobs was wondering how they'd change them to fit a MMO? If folk are right about Dancer, I'm excited to see how that'll work compared to XI and V, for example... Kinda been robbed that with Blue since they just decided to be lazy with it... Guess it's a plus if the alternative was no Blue Mage at all, though...

    I hope they'll reconsider one day and just look at the Blue Mage assets we'll now have and decide it's an easy way to add a new Job, but I hope the developers will do a lot of things I guess... Good way to wind up disappointed...

    Limited crafting and gathering sounds interesting. But thats already solo-content.
    Maybe something like farmer for food or hunter for Leather and meat could actually work and to not flood the market it could simply be "limited" to the previous expansion lvl and mats.
    And for crafting some kind of Mechanic that can craft and fight.
