Fallout 76 requires PS+ now as well.

Also last I heard, Microsoft also wanted Xbox exclusive servers. Not that they wanted to have their players only playing separate of PS and PC players, but they wanted to let them play with the rest of us AND have exclusive servers for their players who don't want to play with the other two platforms. This was also a sticking point for Square since they didn't want to create Xbox exclusive servers.

Lootboxes and Mog Station items aren't even in the same boat.

The former preys on RNG and attempts to cultivate a 'just one more' mentality with no guarantee to receive the item that the buyer desires. The latter outright gives you exactly what it says on the tin.

I'm comparing it to player experience and know that they aren't intrinsically connected but inevitably function the same, to provide added income and feed off those who have disposable income and/or have poor monetary decisions. While some things are in a gray area like purchasing retainers, which imo gives an advantage over MB control, retainer ventures and inventory space, this game is making a shift to "player identity" gameplay with even raid gear being limited to bragging rights and glamour.

When glamour or standing out of a crowd becomes the focus on the game and you put items in the mogstation that make you stand out, then I would say that the mogstation does affect your gameplay experience. Not to mention a lot of things are over-priced for no reason. $18 USD for a single glamour set for one character. $7-$10 USD for an emote for one character and the list goes on. I want to support SE and this game but I draw the line at egregious pricing. So yes they are the same thing. They just have different approaches to achieving the same goal which is to feed on whales. The lootboxes just have no monetary ceiling so they are far more dangerous but both are definitely in the same boat. I'm sure people have spent tons on fantasias alone.

I may sound salty but I have a decent amount of common sense to justify my monetary spending so the mogstation to me just looks like another attempt to sell shoddy goods. If you don't believe me then feel free to enjoy your generic HW mount music on your whale mounts or cardboard wings. For those prices you should be getting more than what you have now and honestly people who do buy that stuff really should be demanding more.

TLDR; Microsoft is shifting to a "platform" based Xbox so PC and Xbox are inter-changeable. Then I wonder why even bother with Xbox when PC essentially gives you everything. Access to Xbox exlcusive and FFXIV? They also need to sell way more in Japan because from what I understand Xbox is seen as ugly and very excessive in Japan. A country which enjoys aesthetic and compact, not to mention Japanese are very loyal to Japanese brands from what I heard.

This thread is not a mog station debate thread, please find Another thread. that being said DO you not get any of the 200+ glamor peices that are basicly handed to you in the game, minions, mounts hairstyles and emotes? the mog station has way less then in game.

that being said I have friends who cannot pay for ps+ because they pay for ffxiv sub and can still play because it doesnt require it

So much finger pointing without knowing all info.

Right now the side holding up crossplay is: both.

PS4 has only allowed crossplay of Fortnite as a beta test that is currently ongoing, depending on that beta test Sony will decide whether they want to allow crossplay with more titles, this beta started in late September and there has been no update since.

On the Xbox side the issues have been listed already, Microsoft would have to waive the live sub requirement for FFXIV (something they have yet to allow for any game) and I can't find any info whether the xbox-only servers is still a requirement, though this one I find it easy to be waived.

Again, SONY has no way of preventing PC players from playing with others. As soon as PS4 and PC players play together, it's completely out of SONY's hands.

You can remove the Switch Joy-Cons. Also, the Switch Controller adapter (what you linked) feels just like a Dreamcast controller, which some people absolutely loved.

Even then, all SE'd need to do is allow the use of a GC controller, since they are still actively used and made backwards compatible with the Switch thanks to Smash (meaning it's possible).

You're still missing the point. The Joycon is not meant for ease of use for an MMO in mind and with XIV's toggle hotbars. I imagine trying to manage multiple hot bars on those things would be not fun at all and somewhat challenging, even worse if you had them apart. So, not only would the Switch be limited in hardware, but now primary functions with a controller. The reason that the Xbox controller works so well is BECAUSE the Xbox was also designed in mind with games having online, competitive multiplayer capabilities that would need more precise button inputs and control.

Even using a Gamecube controller for XIV would feel clunky and weird with hot bar management controls, pet controls, jobs with more complex rotations, and in-game actions that utilize R3.

It's possible, but it would also feel like a severe downgrade at the same time in comparison towards what we have now.

It's called a license agreement, otherwise all other games waiting for crossplay would unilaterally implement it since they already have PS4<->PC enabled. A Sony rep literally stated the company's reasons for not allowing crossplay and people still come here defending Sony.
