Viera Race "Confirmed" for 5.0! Are you gonna change races?

Aside from the infamous neck, how are elzen not proportioned the same as their concept art? I mean, mine in the picture as a bit of a small bust (forgot the exact setting) but that's completely dependent on the player. Elzen are the very definition of lithe. How armor fits them and their animations (which I admit aren't the best the game has to offer) are immaterial to the discussion at hand as they have no bearing on how "faithful" the in-game characters are to the original concept art.

Someone that is lithe doesn't have shoulders so broad they'd make John Cena feel jealous. I know Elezens have very hardcore fans (and there are some very pretty ones out there!), but there's no denying that whomever modeled their bodies does not have a handle on anatomical proportion.

Female miqote,Midlanders and elezen bodies are identical besides the heads they legit share the exact same model,
so saying elezen not having proper proportion is the same as Miqote and midlander
Which is true for every race though none of them anatomically correct.

you'd be surprised how much devs got away with just posing the base races differently.

I think the dev who made elezen decided that they wanted to make elezen unique from other races by stretching everything but it backfired. Anyway yoshi-p did say that the dev who made the elezen walk/run animation already left SQEX.

Hopefully Viera will fill that tall, beautiful race itch for a lot of people so they can leave Elezen alone already.

And some hardcore critics that want them changed. Guess which one won't shut up about it? Hell, this thread was about Viera until a few of ya'll decided you wanted to diss on the Elezen out of the blue. It gets old, it really does.

Just like the Roe were modeled on the Galka, the Hyur on the Hume, the Mi'qote on the Mithra, and the Lalafell on the Tarutaru. There was no "Oh I want to be unique, oh oops I did it in such a way that a bunch of players that expected humans with pointy ears won't like" going on.

The only real difference in proportion is the width of the shoulders, and in the case of the full body art, the neck on the in-game model is a bit longer (maybe - the catch with Elezen necks is that necklaces/scarves hide the length well, so in that art the neck may proportionally be about the same length).

I don't think it's even a matter of the length being hidden, it's just that the pose makes it hard to see at a glance. Between the hand-on-shoulder pose and her hair fluttering on the other side, it makes her shoulders seem a lot higher than they actually are if you look closer.

my only real problem with elezen is that the lighting in this game isnt too kind to them

Ohhhh yes. My character can go from looking really nice to really awful depending on the light angle.

I think it's a problem with all the characters to some degree (and in certain locations - Minfilia's office in the Rising Stones is terrible) but Elezen do seem to come off worse than others.

I don't think that sounds right. Maybe Miqo'te, Midlanders and Au Ra, but not Elezen.

They might start with the same base model and stretch the proportions though.

I'm not familiar with FFXI, but I like Roegadyn as they are. In 'standard fantasy race' terms they seem to be orcs, but also "just normal people", and I like that.

That's my issue with every race in this game. They're all boring (minus Lalafell. They're the least human race in this game and are closer to being Tarutaru's) and why I've constantly been wanting for something that looks different, like playable Lupin or Ronso (or just give me Galka).
