I also see very little difference between the concept art and 3D model for Elezen. (The hairstyle is a nicer, concepty version of one in-game with a stiff side braid.)

From looking at the picture on my phone earlier, I was going to say the neck maybe isn't as exaggerated on the concept art, but on closer look I was misinterpreting her hair as part of her shoulder.


(Complain about "giraffe necks" all you like, but at least my Elezen can wear necklaces without looking like he's being strangled by them... on the rare occasion that I actually want my male character wearing necklaces, anyway.)

Just create one. Even the cheap version you can make up to 8 characters, they'd just have to be on another world. Play it for an hour or whatever, then of you like fantasia. If you don't you've saved the cost of the fantasia(s).

I read somewhere that with a new race, everyone gets a free fantasia, I did not mean that I’ll buy a fantasia without checking out the race, so yes I’ll probably make an alt. Also, I was planning on going back to Au Ra at some point and thought that I would if we got a free fantasia + I did not want to go with Viera, I would just use that free fantasia to go back to Au Ra.

I don't "do" Fantasias but I'd be interested in trying one as an alt. Not during the initial mad rush though.

I like unusual / under-used character designs, so I'd probably try a male one.

Very dependent on emotes though. Some character designs have really appealing 'personalities', others annoy me to the point I don't even play around with them in the character creator.

That's... pretty much exactly how elzen look in-game. The only difference I can see is we don't have an ear option like the full figure on the right has. But the top face is straight-up face option 3 from the game

Very rarely does gear look good on them given that everything is designed around the more average Midlander/Miqo bodies, nor does it help that Elezen have some of the worst walk/run cycles of all the races currently available.

Will be very disappointed if Viera don't take after Fran's glamazon aesthetic and refined nature.

The only real difference in proportion is the width of the shoulders, and in the case of the full body art, the neck on the in-game model is a bit longer (maybe - the catch with Elezen necks is that necklaces/scarves hide the length well, so in that art the neck may proportionally be about the same length).

Also, animations are a matter of taste. I find the Mi'qote to be far too bouncy (look like they are using moon shoes half the time when running) and try-hard on the cutesy side, and the atrocious clipping of their tails in some of the best gear is one of the worst gear issues in the game. I've tried playing one and just couldn't stick with it for long. I'll take the more refined and careful movements of the Elezen any day.

Aside from the infamous neck, how are elzen not proportioned the same as their concept art? I mean, mine in the picture as a bit of a small bust (forgot the exact setting) but that's completely dependent on the player. Elzen are the very definition of lithe. How armor fits them and their animations (which I admit aren't the best the game has to offer) are immaterial to the discussion at hand as they have no bearing on how "faithful" the in-game characters are to the original concept art.

Imo i think female midlanders have the worst walk cycle
ill take the planking elezens over the dainty girl walk they have

my only real problem with elezen is that the lighting in this game isnt too kind to them

Agreed. It's the rectangular bodies, broad shoulders. Not into it.
