I can attest to this. Had a healer in NQ i255 for Sirensong a while back. She literally couldn't survive the stack mechanic from the first boss. I pretty much had to stay in tank stance and pull small. She just didn't have the stats...
Wow didn't know the NQ gear from NPC was that bad. I been using them for the levels when poetic gear isn't good enough so around 56-59. I don't do tank/healer job in leveling roulette after 60 though. SB tribe quests and trial roulette is enough so I don't have to deal with the stress.
I had a particularly painful run of O12N earlier. We had two new people in the group and an AST who had said beforehand that they had never done O12N as AST.
The first try we were near death and had only one healer up. They barely managed to pull off LB3 and we healed up and wiped a short time later after Cosmo Memory hit us and wiped out half the group and we couldn't recover. We had a particular toxic summoner who made an expletive filled comment about how bad the attempt was. The next attempt, this summoner died a lot and wasn't following certain mechanics and often stood around doing nothing. We ending up wiping again and this summoner was quick to throw up a vote abandon, which was rejected. We had a new tank in the group and the summoner said something about how the tank should kill themselves for messing up a mechanic. We put up a vote kick on the summoner and it passed. We got a new BLM to replace them. And next attempt we ended up wiping after both healers got knocked off the edge when Omega F appeared, and we had no SMN or RDM. After the fourth wipe, I left. First time I've ever had to abandon a group before finishing. I feel bad for leaving when there are new members, but we were only getting worse with each attempt. I hope the new members ended up getting their clears.
Later on, I queued for O9N. On our first attempt, we had a certain questionable healer. We lost three DPS and that certain healer because the two stack markers weren't split up. This healer was quick to say to just wipe it even though the other healer had already tossed a rez on them. The healer didn't take the rez. So the second healer tossed rezzes on the dead DPS to try and salvage it, but we ended up wiping. The certain healer instantly left after we wiped. We got a new WHM and they were great. The next attempt, we wiped because we had a dead DPS during the dark crystal part and the meter reached 100. We finally cleared the third attempt.
I just had a tank in Brayflox that was loosing more than half his health to a couple of ticks of the single stack poison. I pointed out that they needed to upgrade their gear cause they had on level 5 stuff and dps accessories and one of dps tells them their gear is fine, and tell me that I just need to esuna harder.
-foams at mouth-
NOT LIKE I WAS OUT OF MP OR ANYTHING.
They literally gave them no constructive criticism.
But oh yes... "Healer this is why you should have rescue on you bars."
Yes... I should have rescue on my bars... As a level 38 SCH... I'll get right on that.
But it's ok for the tank to just continue to stand in the puddles right.
XD I need to stop healing. Legitimate Salt Mage over here.
My eyes/brain initially registered that as "half his teeth to a couple of kicks"... way past time for sleep.
Not funny in the moment I'm sure but now I want to queue as dps and just start yelling "esuna harder!" at my healer.
oof
Always. Sponges soak up puddles, right?![]()
Thanks for helping make the FFXIV community a fun and welcoming place. If you're not sure you have (and you very likely have), make it a point to be patient or helpful the next time you log in so that you can know you've made a difference.
If you're on the Aether data center, congratulations! I might be your nextexciting adventurehealer in the Duty Finder. Please look forward to it.
It would make me feel better too as I would know that I was geared properly for anything I was healing.

I'm really sorry you had to experience that, people can be so mean sometimes, and totally ignorant to boot.I just had a tank in Brayflox that was loosing more than half his health to a couple of ticks of the single stack poison. LOL I bet Anarnee felt like smacking him in the chops after that dungeon XD
Having been mentally scarred lol, from using DF, I haven't used it for months, I certainly won't heal in dungeons for randoms anymore... kind of sad really. Saying that, I tackled Castrum Abania as DPS, warned them it was my first time, having taken note of important mechanics... they were a really lovely group of people, kind and patient, as a result I handled mechanics better and really enjoyed them, even when experiencing anxiety. I didn't die once for my first time yay me lol. So a big massive THANK YOU for reminding me that not all players in DF are flaming douchebags, I wish I could have commended you all.
A week back or so i was doing Shinryu EX in order to finally get That. Damned. Mount.
The Warrior co-tank was a bit problematic.
First Akh Morn i position myself to share the damage with him and pop Sentinel.
Nope, he runs of elsewhere and takes the whole thing solo with Holmgang.
Alright then.
Second Akh Morn, i again run forward to stack and share damage, and he again runs away and takes the whole thing solo, narrowly surviving it with heavy healer attention, one of the blasts left him under 1k HP before a Benediction topped him off.
Diamond Dust, i use Provoke to take the aggro so i can use Hallowed Ground to negate the third Akh Morn.
Nope, no Shirk, instead he uses a bunch of aggro comboes to take aggro back.
Fine then, have it your way.
Then the third Akh Morn hits...and he dies horribly from once again trying to take it solo.
Cue the frothing mad rage about how we let him die.
Then in the third phase, the big claw swipe tankbuster comes up, i Provoke to take aggro, and he again refuses to tank swap, and promptly dies to auto attack damage due to the vuln up debuff.
And again he blames everyone else.
Me (Thinking): Is this guy retarded?
Him: %%=(¤%&&("Q#%(=!!!
Me: ...That's it, someone get his sub-50 IQ ass out of here.
And then a party disband happened.
Got the mount a couple of days later after a string of thankfully reasonably competent groups.
