Back in 1.0, when meeting Minfilia for the first time, we got an echo vision. Normally, during an Echo vision all we do is watch and witness, however during this particular instance Minfilia felt us and saw us.

Perhaps in this way we can alter the past a little. It would take several people very skilled with the echo to pull off but it’s a possibility. Small possibility, but it’s fun to speculate.

I don’t know, just throwing out ideas.
There's also the strange thing in 2.0 about Cid seeing us in the past and echo!WoL floating in the sky and giving him his goggles back. And then he suddenly had the goggles(and his memories) in the present, when he hadn't, before. I still don't fully understand that, honestly. Weird Echo is weird.

Heh, this one is a recurring "What?"

As far as any of us have been able to tell, it's symbolic. Cid asks "When did I even get these goggles?" the WOL lays on the Echo and cures his amnesia, and we see the WOL hand over the goggles in a sparkly vision - the WOL symbolically giving back Cid's memories. Maybe it's just how his third eye perceived the event.

Garlean third eyes are weird, too. With the typical usage of the term, in real life and fantasy both, you'd expect a third eye to provide *more* mystical insight, not less. So they'd be excellent aether users, not unable to use it entirely.

I'm sorry, I know this is off topic. To be back on topic(kinda):

As far as the time skip possibility goes, is it possible the 1.0 WoL we see who gets confronted by the Kuribo is actually in Mor Dhona? He's in the same armor that he was in in the echo vision of Silvertear. And, since he ends up with the party from that fight as part of his companions later on, I think it stands to reason that maybe that vision was a weird instance of the echo forcasting instead of showing the past. Specifically that leve card that triggered the vision led to Mor Dhona and the echo gave him a taste of what was going to go down there? Then he went anyway, met those adventurers, got stuck on the airship, crashed with the airship, and is wandering a changed Mor Dhona. In the normal timeline, he wandered till he met up with his buds again or got to civilization. The trailer, however, with its particular emphasis on how history must be unwritten, is showing something that didn't happen before: the WoL getting (a second?) echo forecast, this time of all the events that are gonna happen to him up to 4.0. Then being confronted by the angel thing that then tries to kill him. And he's able to switch to all those jobs that 1.0 archer Derplander wouldn't know b/c he's just gotten all of them downloaded into him from his future, via the echo. (In other words, he now knows Kung Fu.)

The events and the narration seemed to me to be showing that history is trying to undo the WoL at the end of the Battle of Silvertear Skies, before the WoL's story has actually gotten started. Like a timeline is correcting itself by trying to stamp out the anomaly, via a kuribo look-a-like trying to murder him. (And wasn't there a similar idea in FF13's sequels?)

Or its not a natural force like time, but an enemy of ours directing this action, like they're the Skynet to the WoL's John Connor.

Either way, I think the trailer events involving 1.0 WoL are happening in the past. I think that time shenanigans are afoot, basically.
