Will the Garleans be ostracized once the war with Garlemald ends in 5.0?

Should just kill them off wholesale. Nothing good can come of anything involved with Ascians. And they're blatantly incompetent whenever they're shown anyway. Probably would've just collapsed in on themselves even if they conquered the world and somehow didn't kickstart a Rejoining.

Let's set aside the likely fact that this is poorly disguised bait, because I'm being an idiot and responding to it anyway. Isn't racial genocide something that would work out in the Ascian's favor? "We'll stop violence by committing even more violence." So by supporting that kind of atrocity, you'd actually be involved with the Ascians, willingly or no. What does that say about that sort of mindset, then?

Well we did help out an garlean soldier after Fordola shot the tower and Kan-E-Senna did heal even the enemy after the battle against Bahamut and even took in a former enemy. Also seemingly people in Doma were able to kinda forgive Tsuyu for the past doings so I can see that some might be against it, some skeptic and some will just want to help. In the end it really matters who will come to the borders. Higher ups that had a vote in a lot of the bad stuff they did? Well they might get trials for war crimes. Conscripted soldiers might just finally get back home and the rest is really depending on how SE wants to write the story. Realistically you will have people that are for and against it.

This reminds me. Have we had any follow up to the Garlean pilot in Raincatcher Gully? Last I remember interacting with him, he was alive and physically hale, but mentally scarred and basically making himself a hermit. Have anymore quests involved him?

Not that I'm aware of. I've been toying with the idea of creating one, though that depends on how much interest there is. I'd also want one or two other people to step up and moderate alongside me to form a 'council' of sorts to make decision making less prone to bias as I am of the firm belief that the best moderation comes from a varied team and not one that consists of people who already know each other and are just going to go out of their way to protect their friends.

At least once a year I get approached about making a "Lore Hub" Discord, and I make it and invite them and then they play with it for a few days and flake. Recently I just started recycling the same one each time!

There's a lot of flakes within FFXIV's community. People love to talk about setting things up, yet when push comes to shove they vanish. Especially when it comes to committing to a POTD or HOH max floor run! With that said, I'm sure you've noticed by now that I'm extremely stubborn and do not often back down. If I say I'm going to do something, I do it. If you or anybody else believes that the council idea has merit then I'm all for helping to set something up.

I'm not entirely sure that's a good idea. What are we actually going to get out of it, other than splintering the discussion, and potentially moving good ideas and revelations out of the easily-revisitable forum format and into Discord's fleeting chatroom setup?

As well as the Ivalice questline appearance that Theodric mentioned (it's more a cameo than serious involvement), he's also in one of the Postmoogle quests if you haven't done those.

I remain hopeful that we're going to help him get home at some point.

Presumably nobody would cease posting here. Discord has a lot of benefits, the most notable being the ability to chat with people in real time and get a feel for the people behind the avatars. Any disagreements that arise can also be resolved much more easily over such a platform. There's also a lot of people who don't post on this board at all simply because they can't - I know a handful of individuals who were subjected to forum bans based on heavy handed moderation.

I'm not suggesting that this place is bad, by any means, though it would benefit from being supplemented in some way.
