I was new to tanking and doing some low level content on the daily roulette, when I got a group of two crowns. Until then I always thought pulling and tanking was the job of the tank, but obviously I was mistaken. One of the crowns immediately dashed off, pulling the first thrash mobs together. I stepped in and as we just survived the first wave, he was already on his way pulling another group of mobs and BOOM goes the neighborhood.

I thought as a mentor you should try to teach your group something but all I learned from this guy was how not to do stuff.

I got to encounter the legendary "AFK alliance tank" in Labyrinth of the Anicents today.

I'm in Alliance B, and Japanese server etiquette is that the Alliance B tank is automatically main tank for the raid.

We arrive at the first room of monsters, and our tank is nowhere to be seen. After an awkward pause, the other tanks move in and start the battle.

Second room, still no tank. Someone else asks about it in chat. I check the map and see a single blue dot still at the starting line. Oh dear.

We're up to the Bone Dragon, and still don't have our tank. I try to initiate a vote kick but it's not quite five minutes into the raid yet, so I can't do it... and as I watch the last few seconds tick down to that point, finally the tank appears on our party list. Except they're standing outside the arena - aren't they supposed to get a free warp in, now? Oh well, maybe they were dealing with something IRL and missed out on saying yes or something. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Onwards to Atomos, and where's our tank again...? Still at the entrance to the Bone Dragon's lair. And, of course, not rolling on loot.

One of the DPSes picks up the tank-role of luring monsters down the Atomos platform. The tank reappears outside of Thanatos's arena. Off to the Allagan Bomb, where Tank C has to pick up our Vassago as well as theirs, and we start forming a well-deserved mutiny in /say chat.

Up to the Behemoth, and the loot timer is still counting down, so we wait.

And suddenly... we get a "vote abandon" pop-up! Not dismiss, abandon. It's voted down of course, the loot timer runs out, and we finally kick the non-tank.

Discussing it later with the one other English speaker afterwards, she suspects the tank was the one that tried to abandon, maybe hoping we'd click blindly thinking it was the dismiss vote. Which would make more sense than any of the others trying to abandon just because we stopped for a minute, but... wow. That's a (hypothetical) extra level of awful there.

In the past few days I acquired 3 cards including the Happy Bunny card (finally)

I got the Yojimbo card (exciting!)

Can anyone confirm that Thordan Ex can drop the Thordan card wen unsynched? I've done 70runs and no luck yet.

Duties in general have been fantastic lately and no complaints here. Even Pagos has been fun

Just ran a leveling roulette on my alt whm. Had a drk tank who would always mass pull mobs out of Nin's Doton in Dusk Vigil, wouldn't bother to use defensive cooldowns and I had to spam cure and use Benediction back-to-back until they dced on the first boss. We got a replacement tank that was much better, and the brd and nin were both awesome. I wish I could comm all three of them.

But that drk tank at the start...it made my brain hurt.

A while ago got Sigmascape 2 in Normal Raid roulette, and this Lalafell Warrior from the turtle server was fighting me the aggro so bad (I'm a PLD) and spamming the chat with {Sword Oath}. I kept my rotation and he kept provoking again and again. At the end of the battle I told him that there's no honor in provoking, he could perfectly fight the aggro the good way if he wanted to tank so badly, and ofc he trash talked me that even him being undergeared than me, I could barely beat him. I mean, ofc, if you keep provoking lol and WAR is broke af too. Then he logs on my server to tell me how garbage of a tank I am according to him, and logged out before I could blacklist. Shame we can't bl offline people.

A while ago got Sigmascape 2 in Normal Raid roulette, and this Lalafell Warrior from the turtle server was fighting me the aggro so bad (I'm a PLD) and spamming the chat with {Sword Oath}. I kept my rotation and he kept provoking again and again. At the end of the battle I told him that there's no honor in provoking, he could perfectly fight the aggro the good way if he wanted to tank so badly, and ofc he trash talked me that even him being undergeared than me, I could barely beat him. I mean, ofc, if you keep provoking lol and WAR is broke af too. Then he logs on my server to tell me how garbage of a tank I am according to him, and logged out before I could blacklist. Shame we can't bl offline people.

Go to social >contacts> right click> blacklist. No need for them to be online and the list still remains after logging out. If you've done a lot of duties since though they may have been bumped off the list.

...I mean, his behaviour about it wasnt great, but dont you know that paladin makes for a prime offtank in Stormblood...? The warrior actually had a point about trying to go Maintank... ofcourse it doesnt matter much in outdated, easy content like that but still.

And while there might be no honor in provoking, theres also no wisdome or pride in keeping up an aggro fight. If someone wants to tank so badly, I happly shirk them and be glad that I can use my full skillset as paladin properly instead of having to bother with maintanking. I just hope that by "keeping your rotation" you dont mean spamming Halones, but your actual rotation of keeping up your dot and Royal Blade.
To sum it up: Both of you acted like fools.
There are always two people in an (aggro) fight and both of them arent really intelligent in my book.

Hey I was the drg in that party and I want to say that WAR was out of line and annoying. For pete's sakes it was Sigmascape 2 and its not like there is any positioning on that floor and mt only gets maybe an extra spicy hit or two if I remember correctly. He also bad mouthed you once you left saying he hated garbo tanks, but as far as I can say, if he did not know that we were on Sigmascape 2 and could not realize that honestly mt/ot is more or less worthless bc you are both getting auto attacked, then perhaps he needs to reevaluate his supposed 'tank prowess' that he was claiming. He had no excuse to come after you afterwards either. The healers were mostly dps'ing and other than a dumb moment when someone stood in the feather aoe circle, no one died. It was a smooth run other than one dipshit war who kept spamming sword oath over and over. Anyways, I hope he didn't ruin your day. You did what I would have if I were in your shoes. He was flipping annoying and I wouldn't let him have agro after he started spamming.

O6N Horror Story

On behalf of our server, I'd like to extend my apologies. Regardless of whether or not WAR typically makes a better mt than PLD, there's no reason for them to have behaved like that. Communication is a key aspect of teamwork after all, and rather than try to work with you it seems the other tank just decided to try to force their own way of doing things without trying to communicate why it may be advantageous to do things that way, and didn't seem to care if that was something you were comfortable with or even if their own gear allowed for them to handle things that way. Anyway, I hope that particular incident doesn't mar your impression of our server. Most of us are pretty decently behaved from my experience lol.

Warrior is fine. DRK needs help. Nerfing WAR in 5.0 will only please the whiners who played DRK when it was bad, and they coulda been pleased by making drk good instead. also aggro wars are stupid. tanking is about teamwork.
