Half? I count just 3 skills at level 70. Energy drain, physick and ruin II.![]()

summoner and scholar share ruin, bio, physick, summon, aetherflow, energy drain, miasma, summon II, sustain, resurrection, bio II, bane, ruin II, rouse, and shadow flare
it's why they have a bunch of skills that over-write the arcanist version to try and make them differ more and also why summoner is kind of a mess since they just keep trying to patch over aetherflow with more and more stuff instead of just giving it a proper unique mechanic
More jobs per class is a waste and won't happen since they want to remove classes completely. If they re-did the starting city quests and class quests it would remove them entirely.
Summoner feels less like Scholar over time, but Scholar loss the DoT feeling, IMO since it lost Miasma 2. It's more a juggling class of manage pet, semi burst phase, bahamut even if the three Dots are there.
Your point would be better made by only listing the skills that I genuinely forgot. Base skills that change and morph as they grow apart over the levels only reinforces that the link isn't an issue.summoner and scholar share ruin, bio, physick, summon, aetherflow, energy drain, miasma, summon II, sustain, resurrection, bio II, bane, ruin II, rouse, and shadow flare

Summoner is in a good place right now, it's not a mess at all, it could use some tweaking here and there, but nothing I or many others would like for it require splitting it from Scholar.
As for Scholar itself, it's also in a good place, in fact I see remarkably few complaints about it at all.
kind of what i was trying to get atMore jobs per class is a waste and won't happen since they want to remove classes completely. If they re-did the starting city quests and class quests it would remove them entirely.

Don't you think summoner could be a lot better if it wasn't some huge game of "how far can we twist and contort arcanist base skills into something they aren't?" Since when were Final Fantasy Summoners a ripoff of WoW corruption warlocks anyways?
At least with scholar the arcanist part of it is mostly intact, even broil is mechanically identical to ruin.
Not sure why, maybe nostalgia, but I do miss / feel sad that the idea that jobs are constructed from other jobs is gone by the wayside. I know that's not exactly your comment, but I felt it was a bit similar.
As for exactly what happened with Arcanist / Summoner, unless they modify the system further I think it was an interesting idea / test but didn't quite work out and in fact I wouldn't mind them completing separating Summoner from Arcanist. Then after separating Scholar / Summoner , splitting skills that each needs, adding new better themed ones (don't totally change the job so its not similar feeling but tool it closer to the themes).
at the very least they need to change tri-bind to remora...Not sure why, maybe nostalgia, but I do miss / feel sad that the idea that jobs are constructed from other jobs is gone by the wayside. I know that's not exactly your comment, but I felt it was a bit similar.

On that note, I always though Resurrect should be changed to Phoenix-Egi for Summoner, complete with some light AoE damage around the raised target... Honestly I'd like to see all of Summoner changed, at least as far as naming goes... Bio and Miasma kinda fits with the doctor feel Scholar had going (its old Esuna was Leeches...), doesn't really for Summoner... Change them all to be Egi based animations? Would feel much more Summoner, Bismark-Egi popping out and vomiting on target for Tri-Disaster before vanishing again, things like that...

Could be pretty cool if they give summoner a series of mini-glamours. Like changing resurrect to a phoenix-egi/effect, tri-bind to remora, bio to burn or shock effects, etc, etc. Could add effects to it of course but that would be a buff, in which it needs to be built into an expansion or as a fix in a flaw of the job. That'd be quite cool. If they ever add fat chocobo (chocobo paradise plzzzz) then I want to see some fat chocobo butt coming down :3, as an option lol. Sounds expensive but definitely really cool (x3 cool, so like it's extra good right? lol).On that note, I always though Resurrect should be changed to Phoenix-Egi for Summoner, complete with some light AoE damage around the raised target...
