I'm thinking/hoping the Alliance is more forgiving to the Garleans, especially after the Ascians' machinations come to light. While there will undoubtly be factions that find their actions unforgivable (understably, given that some were still ok with genocide, Ascian manipulation or not), especially amongst the Ala Mhigans, at least Kan-E has been more open to forgiveness and succor (that one garlean soldier she healed and became one of her guards comes to mind). The Syndicate was already flirting with the idea of joining the Empire if it meant better trade so there would be little argument there...

With the Ascians running the Empire from the shadows it does seem more likely we'll join them in a grudging alliance to wipe them out. I HAD mentioned before that, given Varis' general annoyance to grandpa not letting him rule his own empire, it opens the door for him to reach out to the WoL/WoD/WoB in a "I fought a literal war for this throne, it's mine, no one else's" Unless, of course, there's another brother hidden somewhere...

(as an aside, I've been meaning to compare notes on Ivalice with Theodric but, alas, Blamung remains locked )

Something confuses me about Solus though....isn't he very old

Like in the pics for patch 4.5 he seems to have regained his youth somehow.

I still haven't finished the Call quest yet in 4.4 so ....does that explain it?

I haven't finished the call quest in 4.4 so I might've missed that

It's like... the 2nd to last cut-scene of 4.4. That one cut-scene throws so many of our previous assumptions on their heads...

Historically speaking, I'd put it in "likely." The Empire covers a vast swathe of land, and many of its provinces do not and never wanted Imperial rule if rebellions were incited to the point Zenos-Elidibus had to be sent out to strike fear into the hearts of the people. Eorzeans probably don't care too much beyond the Ala Mhigans' understandable beef with them, but the people in other provinces may or may not hold similar sentiments to the Ala Mhigans. On the other hand, the Domans were willing to give peace a shot - though how much Hien had to hold them back, who can say?

In game politics... I'd not say it's terribly likely. The Garleans are tragically misguided, and the Ishgardians reformed their government right quick. On the other hand the Ishgardians weren't attacking other nations... it all depends on what Imperial society does when/if the truth is exposed. Will it decide the truth is irrelevant and its mission is justified all the same, or will it reconsider? It's a guessing game at this point.

Well we did help out an garlean soldier after Fordola shot the tower and Kan-E-Senna did heal even the enemy after the battle against Bahamut and even took in a former enemy. Also seemingly people in Doma were able to kinda forgive Tsuyu for the past doings so I can see that some might be against it, some skeptic and some will just want to help. In the end it really matters who will come to the borders. Higher ups that had a vote in a lot of the bad stuff they did? Well they might get trials for war crimes. Conscripted soldiers might just finally get back home and the rest is really depending on how SE wants to write the story. Realistically you will have people that are for and against it.

You basically have teo options here...

Germany in 1919 or Germany in 1946.

Everyone ostracizes the Garleans and so sets the stage for a future expansion... or we rebuild their homeland and they become an Ally in chasing out Ascians and uncovering Allegan mysteries.

The nature if the NPCs we have suggests the second outcome is more likely... Our NPC nation leaders don’t seem the type to carve up the Garlean empire and create a pack of colonies around the world designed to be exploited... I think they’d be more likely to want ti bring the Garleans into the fold of an effort to figure out the Allegans and take out the Ascians.

I feel this is a big point to, garlemald have more experience than anyone in regards to technology and regardless of the ironworks efforts they likely lack the manpower or the resources to fulfill their ambitions. In order to solve the allagan mystery a mix of atheririal and technological knowledge is required, Not to mention better airships. I think both parties will eventually cooperate in exploring the new world by the end of things.
