    The End of Races....but?

Hey All! Long time, I had this thought... Sure the bunnies won as the last race to be in game "or so that's what was said", and at least it's ending on a good note. HOWEVER, I wonder what you guys would think if we could still get some sort of other race options. The biggest obstacle and argument when it comes to new races is the gear. They team has to go back and make sure everything is going to fit, watch for clipping, scaling items etc etc, but what if instead of making a new literal race each time they implemented a race GLAM. Something like you could glam over everything and look like a moggle. "Oh but the gear"-sure, the perfect answer to this would be that the glam would have a set look...all "moogle" ninjas would look the same, all "moogle" black mages would look the same. The perfect example of this is the mog trail. And, it wouldn't be limited to mogs they could maybe implement a plethora of race glams this way, and you would at the same time cancel the argument of gear. You could leave such a glam at that and I'm sure some people would be fine with it just let them play as a mog "personally I was wanting a werewolf of some kind", but if the team ever wanted they could add more fixed outfits for these glams-who knows. I hope this makes sense. :l

Something I've been wanting for awhile and have posted about in that one Viera thread every so often. So many interesting Beastmen wandering around, yet we're all stuck to playing as one of six (and soon seven) flavours of human.

I'm still hoping the new race is actually two races. Race will have a different name, but the two clans are not the same whatsoever: Viera and Ronso (that way a majority is happy). Only going by this because the Viera were called a sub-race in the Ivalice story.

Remember Yoshi's fondness for semantics. Viera might be the last race added to the game. He never said they'd never add another one. After BLU getting added outside an expansion release, I'm not falling for his wordplay anymore

I'm perfectly happy playing a human like race. people identify more with beings closer to them. I wouldn't ever think of playing a beast tribe race.

I'm quite the opposite, tbh. I'd have loved to play a Beast Tribe race (especially with how much model work they've done with Lupin between last year's All Saint's Wake and the current Hildibrand quest) because it's not human. While people identify with beings closer to them, this is also an RPG. Many people play alternate races to be something beyond what he is in real life. We're a human every day, why do we want to be a human in a game when we can try being something else? It's why I play Charr in GW2, Khajiit in Skyrim, etc - being a human is everyday life, and it's fun to play something different.

This. Also given how notoriously lazy the team has been with remodeling female to male glamours I don't think they want the extra stress of remodeling every single piece of armor for use by any of the existing beast races. Don't get me wrong, I would jump at playing a Sylph in a heartbeat. However between the narrative complications and the sheer amount of finagling with the armor meshes that would need to be done - sometimes outright making new ones like in the case of the beast races with digitigrade legs - it's unlikely to happen. Not impossible however.

I do understand that obviously due to my characters gender, but it's still close enough to myself to identify with. I am not white haired or a woman in real life but I still wouldn't want to be a kobold or a moogle.

That's a silly question to me. It all comes from preference; It doesn't matter if we're human.
For me, I play Hyur because they look better than other races. Actually in most MMOs I've played, humans tend to look the best. That's just my opinion.
Even for how human-like the other races are, I don't like them as much. Also each race have distinct facial features and mannerisms which affects someone's choice for races. I almost started as a catboy but I don't like them because they're twinks for the Nomura-esque pretty boy protagonist faces and I also don't like their flamboyant animations.

That’s you but it isn’t me and it isn’t everyone.

In WoW I historically mained Minotaurs and Pandas. In Elder Scrolls I play cat people. In Guild Wars I play a big one eyed cat-beast with fur resembling the Calico coat of a one-eyed cat we had 30 years ago...

In Wilstar while I had some bunny girls just like everyone did, my main was a humanoid dragon critter. Just like it was when I tried out Neverwinter.

I’ve got my share of human like toons too. But I like the variety.

If something isn’t human I prefer it really fully not be human. Otherwise just play an actual human...
