When ten-year-olds could do better research on a topic than this guy. The amount of errors in this article about the game is astounding—I don’t even know if he read Kotaku articles on it; I don’t think he “researched” at all.

He wasn't hired. Press folks get special passes to attend the event and write about it. This time they got a chance to ask questions direct to YoshiP as well.
The lack of professionalism in the article is appalling. It's written like a snarky opinion piece from someone who's annoyed they had to cover the losers at an MMO event instead of the game he really wanted to write about.

Bad enough his entire tone was condescending as hell, but you can also tell he half*ssed the whole thing.
Really? Really? This is the best that a "professional" journalist could come up with? It's like I'm having flashbacks to sixth grade English when my teacher told the class to use more colorful descriptors.a screen busier than an Amazon warehouse staffed by bees
At the very least SE should deny this mook any press privileges in the future, if not the entire Rock Paper Shotgun site. Although I do give them kudos if is this is some sort of underhanded publicity stunt. I'd never heard of the obscure website before they sent their sh*tposter to the Fanfest, so I guess it sort of worked?

What angers me the most is the absolute disrespect towards Yoshida during the press only Q&A. I can't believe he had the audacity to waste time asking about SE's official stance on ERP. How inappropriate!
Kinda reminds me of that "documentary" Vice did on eSports and gaming in general.
"“Huuuhh!?” says director Naoki Yoshida when I ask about this during a press Q and A. He seems surprised,"
You don't say? I wonder why he would be surprised being asked a question that most people would consider not only in poor taste even outside the context of a press conference, but also completely irrelevant to the event in progress and the big announcements that were made? Truly the great mystery of our time.
Who in their right mind would think that would be in any way appropriate, interesting or even profitable for their outlet? What journalistic value does it have? What were the readers supposed to take away from it? And most importantly, did he really think it would draw the almighty clicks to the article? There's a good reason nobody talks about MMO players pretending to bonk in chat - nobody gets outraged by it anymore. I keep seeing journalists and youtubers trying to make "wow there's bonking in video games!" breaking news again and... it makes them look desperate? It's like trying to get views by bashing Twilight in 2018. It's over, that train left so long ago you can only see it in the museum these days.

I can't say I'm unhappy with Blue Mage to be honest. Players have been asking for it for a while, so I'm happy it's finally being added. I suppose the only real issue is, everyone had a different idea on how to implement it. Personally I like how SE is going about it, and I also like that they're just adding what players have asked for. Just look at World of Warcraft. Their Allied Races are a laundry list of Corrupt-A-Wish entries. Void Elves instead of High Elves? Fat Humans instead of Vykrul? Holier Draenei rather than Broken? It's just sad. Unless you're Horde where you pretty much get everything you ask for EXCEPT a decent story or to at least not be brutalized with the Villain Bat.
