At this point, I just want SE to innovate beyond the same repetitive cycle of content so I'm down for anything.

PvP and PvE are separate for good reason, lets keep it that way.
It would be another "not popular PvP instance" people will do for the haircut/mount without even trying and forget about it till new addition.
I think the game should focus more on PVP it can easily accommodate and not try to be everything for everyone. More focus on Frontlines and content like Rival Wings would be welcome.
There's games that do Feast/arena type content much better. As it stands, I don't really care for Feast, don't care much for the PVP system that had to be designed to accommodate it (hate it compared to the old free for all and some jobs are just crap), and wish they'd put more resources into large scale frontlines/large BG type content. There's plenty of ways they could improve on Frontlines, including taking inspiration from WoW. I loved rated BGs.
I mean this game's focus is PVE, and there is a competitive element to that, but I think I get what you're saying. PVP is very much a side dish, and I'd rather they consolidated/focused what resources they put into it in those areas the game could best work with. They seem opposed to having either game mode affect the other. Fine, but the lack of variety in PVP content at the moment (just 1 of the Frontlines a day), and the very limited customisability, puts me off it. We know the real issue here is queue times and getting enough people to sign up. I just don't think the way they're addressing it is working in enhancing it as an aspect of the game.Dredgion is still the most fun thing in Aion, at least for me.
The most recent update did some changes. Now some mini bosses does drop upgrade items, allowing for different strategies. If you want the upgrade items, your group can rush and kill the mini bosses asap and forget about the score, but if your team want the Win reward there's the classic strategy.
It could work with FFXIV. Reward for win could be Tomes and some special reward to upgrade PVP stats/actions, while the minibosses drop some material item for materia, maybe a new system that needs a certain amount of that material to unlock the materia slots, or even additional slots that only add stats towards PVP zones.
What really lacks in FFXIV is competitiveness. In Aion we do PvE to improve faster in PvP, I like this idea. In the end of the day, what's the big deal of getting the BiS? I fail to find any value in it if it'll be trashed in the next patch, or even only being used to do the same thing you are already doing. I would like to do PVP to get something for my PvE, and vice versa. Now they are mostly separate things. Craft could have so much potential with PVP too. So little progression for PVP...

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
No thank you. If you played Aion then you seen they had very bad problem with hackers on it. So no to any type of open world pvp. How causes problems easy. Every week on server I was on over a 1000 would be banned each week. Even in area where no pvp was a loud saw one using hacks and enter it and started killing bunch low level players.

Sorry but can you explain how introducing open world PvP would cause problems with hackers? I doubt this would create new vulnerabilities, and any undiscovered ones would be rooted out.
Also, again I'm not advocating for open world PvP. I think it would be cool to have a server for it, but small leaps.
as a duty, similar to frontlines it would be very fun to have. i loved my dredgion afk runs where 2-3 people would destroy everything. also the only form of pvp in aion i enjoyed.
yea it would probably have to be a duty. But I think something like this in FFXIV would be super fun and get more people into PvP
Well they could add a pvpve zone. Add quests, a feature like FFXI conquest, special rewards. Basically give the people what they want.
Any new modes for PvP is needed, the PvP community gets only 1 or 2 maps per expansion. PvPvE would be good as both communities can join in.
Tbh I personally think we need some smaller 8v8 maps. That way each person has more of an impact, and we don't have to ride across the maps so much on our mounts and can put more time into doing what we're actually here for: PvP
I am getting a little sick of the PvE community always shutting down the ideas of the PvP community though.
You guys get how many new zones, dungeons, etc compared to the PvP community, and when ever one of us is like "Can we have some crumbs plz?"
The PvErs are like "NO! I don't like pvp, No pvp in this game! I have never given PvP here a chance, but other games it's bad so it must be bad here by default! Even if it will never affect me, I don't want it!" Or "PvP is dead in this game! A new mode will be useless as it won't get played!" Maybe it's dead because we don't get enough fun modes?
Our PvP already got gutted (most of our abilities removed, item stats removed to eliminate min-maxing, rank restrictions on gear removed) so the PvE community would have it easier to join in when they want to. Why not have more fun modes for everyone like what OP suggested? Something that both PvErs and PvPers can join in on.
And rewards so people want to do them, for those who need incentives.(For example Eureka, most people hate that place but still do it for the relic reward, which is stopping it from dying out.)

Yea already in this thread people have posted they are against PvP. If it's a duty/instanced area I really don't see an issue.
My dream is to have an area that is open world PvP, but I'm not even pushing for that because of the fallout that would cause with the PvE only community
