Architectural style doesn't line up for the section with Thancred in it. The environment around the WoL might fit, but if it was where Amdapor was then it's been leveled - the few times you can see the surrounding environment it's devoid of structures.

Also, much like with Halatali, I don't see Thancred commenting on it in the manner that he does if it were Amdapor.

Based on the architecture and his comments, I don't see it being any location other than Ul'dah (and much like parts of the HW trailer, more representative of the location than an accurate rendering of the places we can visit in-game).

You are not incorrect per se. But the two locations are right next to eachother on the map. So it's within the realm of possibility that it's an area of Amdapor closer to Thanalan, that we havent been too.

While the bosses could be more stylistic than literal, why choose those specific bosses, if they didnt mean anything. Plus Kuribu are stated to be Gelmorran (spelling). Gelmorra was a subterranean city in the Shroud. I would think the underground of any location would look similar, and Halitali is predominantly underground.

Plus on the assumption that the "child" he is with is Minfilia, a location in the Shroud makes more sense. Minfilia is Ala Mhigan, and to get to Thanalan from Ala Mhigo, you have to pass through the Shroud. Not saying it's what is happening since everything is speculation at this point, but it is worth mentioning.
