what about these complaints or whining isn't criticism? If people don't like a certain aspect change it. The one people are complaining is about it being locked form duty finder and raids. What can we else say to offer possible solutions? We just said the solution. Fix the job so people can use it in raids and duty finder. I understand your idea but this is one of those times the complaints is incredibly simple that the discussion doesn't even feel needed.

I don't think people are wrong for wanting to fully experience FFXIV as a beloved classic Final Fantasy job. Honestly I'd be fine if they kept the whole thing as is and just gave us two Soul Crystals. One that lets use do the whacky custom solo shenanigans, and one we get after clearing the Carnival that is a melee magic damage DPS with a set kit like everything else.

People wanted FFXI play style We got Eureka, They wanted Blue Mage now they got it. I guess the old adage "Be careful what you wish for" Is true. :P

I can't help but feel that if folks stopped wanting what was in FF games of old and let this one grow and be unique we would all be a lot better off.

I see your point, and the only thing I disagree with is "discussion isn't needed." We absolutely need discussion, and specific critique, in order to prevent a possible fix from being awful, or even not getting what we specifically had issues with fixed.

Here's the thing, to pull back the curtain on my reasoning a bit. I work in a corporate office that fields complaints by the dozen every day. The people that just say "I don't like this" or "this sucks" often get ignored by the people fielding these as the assumed collateral damage for introducing something. "There'll always be complainers" "you can't please everyone" etc, etc.

But the people that have a thought-out critique where they tell us exactly what they don't like and how it affects them? Those people get paid attention to.

For example, you just specified the issue: let us use BLU in raids. That gives the team something to focus on. Solid critique, people want to use it in raids, and that's a valid point that should be examined.

We're not saying their complaints aren't criticism. We're saying it's the type of criticism that will go nowhere and get nothing accomplished.

    "BLU needs to be fixed."
Okay...what part? The raid part? The appearance? The method of learning skills?

Everyone has a right to voice a complaint if they're unhappy with a product. You're paying for it! You're not happy BLU can be used in raids, voice that concern! I just wish people would put some thought into it and help the team understand the exact issue as much as possible because that will lead to fixes and changes.

If someone have a specific vision of how BLU should operate in your head, that would alleviate that concern, they should share it during their criticism. For all anyone knows, they might have just the idea that will crack it and fix everything (no sarcasm). But that may never happen if someone limits their criticism to "I don't like it, it sucks, fix it."

Not a bad idea at all. We get different skill sets for PvP so it's not a brand new concept.

We've said it a thousand times in other threads. This joke thread is for jokes and memes.

There's nothing to give a 'chance' to. No one is complaining about BLU itself. The major complaint is coming from it not being usable in all content like every other job. No amount of 'trying' it will ever make that trade-off worth it.

Thats the traditional Blue Mage look from its first appearance in FFV.

Red Mage in FFXIV follows the exact Final Fantasy definition of the class. The problem is everyone tries to compare FFXI jobs as 'canon' when they are far from it. Blue Mage is a perfect example. FFXI created their own idea of blue mage (which was quite bad) and according to the theory crafting on these, and other forums in the past, everyone took that as a job that uses dual swords, appears mid-eastern, and must set certain blue magic before battle. FFXIV's BLU is as close to the classic version as you can get while maintaining MMORPG balancing, and that's what the playerbase wanted.

Sorry, you're using that word wrong.

On this forum, "traditional" is normally used to mean "the version I liked most". :P
