    I think BLU looks fantastic as "limited job".

    Instead of scripted quests we got a real BLU, a real customizable job wich you can make different builds depending on the content you'll face.


    I've seen lots of people complaining, but almost none of them understands what BLU really is. I guess they just need time; don't feed them.

    So you want a blue mage that is locked out of like 90% of the games content? I sure don't I was hoping to main blue mage. But with it's current state i can't. I just hope if they have done this to blue mage they won't do it to dancer when and if they put it in this game.

    I'll enjoy doing what the job is being designed to do and be because I find it interesting, as well as trying out the Masked Carnival.

    You don't even need to standardize its systems to make it functional in that regard. You could just as easily say, "You need X number more <selected/mouseover-ed role> skills to queue as <selected/mouseovered role>."

    It's a hero class; they can always go level something simpler instead, so there are no true leveling bottleneck concerns of note for the BLU itself, only those it'd be playing with.

    You do not need a template to balance a job. You do not need template quests to fill out a job's arsenal.

    A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

With their arrival into the spotlight one would expect that there'd be universal improvements towards more intuitive, experiential, and engaging instructional methods that, as a byproduct, would allow their full integration.     I feel like Limited Jobs could work nicely as a Sub Job system.

    Right now Blue Mage just feels like a combat Fisher; You're filling out a log of spells and that's about all it's there for. That's nice for what it is I guess, but it's kind of meh for a number of reasons. If it were a Sub Job, allowing you to take select skills over to your main Job, then it would have a bit of endgame utility. Think something like the ability to use stat potions, or a second tier of additional actions. Just something new but similar for you to throw out in a fight for additional damage/utility/etc. They'd need to tweak balance a bit for it of course, but I don't think it'd be that hard on such a small scale. Best of all, it would add a degree of customisation to the game that's always been missing, more so when you factor in additional Limited/Sub Jobs. Lets say you can only take one action over, but you've got multiple actions to pick from, and then multiple Limited/Sub Jobs like Blue Mage that are all have the same level of options to pick from. That could be a fun system, I think...

    Works nicely for the gimmicky Jobs that perhaps aren't likely to get a fully fleshed out just due to balance issues, I think. Even the current Limited Job system does that, I'd just like a bit more purpose to the system is all... I'm certain Beast Master will be a Limited Job at this point, and I'd love to go around taming various beasts, then being able to just pick one that I can throw out in a fight, on say Samurai (Yojimbo-lite, lets go!). Chemist is another Job I could see getting this treatment, and I'd love to have it gather ingredients, then set some ingredients on Scholar and be able to mix them in battle... Heck, if they'd thought of this system sooner, I'm certain Summoner would be a Limited Job... I think it would work much better as one, allowing SE to put resources into giving it all the summons since there'd be no balance issues, although the whole "it's just for Summoner, so egi-glamour isn't a priority" rubs me the wrong way when Performance is seeing constant updates when that's just for Bard... Heck with a Sub Job system slap Bard in there, give it a whole host of Songs rather than the few we have currently, and give us Ranger instead... If they want to get really gimmicky, I could see Thief finally making its way to XIV too, actual stealth and pickpocket gameplay in XIV would be interesting, but certainly not workable in a combat setting.

    Not going to happen, of course, but IDK, I think it'd add a bit more of a purpose to the Limited Jobs, and make for some fun customisation on the main Jobs... For now I guess I'll just look at Blue Mage as the same as Fisher; Disappointing to be sure, but it's still potentially enjoyable content to go do. Not sure we'd have gotten it any other way at this point, not with the proper learning mechanic in place, at least.

    I am a huge Blue mage fan, I even cosplayed it at my local comicon recently
    (https://www.reddit.com/r/FinalFantas...ateur_cosplay/) , and I am in fact upset about BLU being limited. The feeling of Blue mage could have been gotten by having to go out and learn your rotation from monsters then use it in group content. If i wanted to play a true blu, id replay ffv ff6 ff7 or any of the others, just like if i wanted to play a true rdm i wouldnt play ffxiv or if i wanted to play true drk or true brd. in those games it wasnt even as romantic as most people say it is,you went out learned the best skills then spammed them

    What scares me is that YoshiP mentioned Beastmaster and Puppetmaster as potential jobs that could follow along with this system, and I'm watching this going "Nope! Nope nope nope nope nope." If I can only take a select number of beasts (say, who are "brave" enough) into higher end content then so be it. They designed the system this way, so now we, as the community of players, is trying to make it work based on what the dev team has already established.

    Unless, of course, every job gets both an independent playstyle and a group playstyle, but they won't.

    I want to see how BLU plays out. A lot of htis outrage just comes off as silly because its pretty much "I wanted to Raid as BLU."

    Getting afraid of it being Solo content and "what thatll mean for FFXIV". What it might mean is more stuff for people do to, rather than a cookie cutter "Lvl Up to 80 and do raid!" kind of progression. If it sucks, then complain after playing it. But people are losing it and its not even out yet.
