I'm curious how all this will work, there's potential for sure, but until we get our hands on it I'll be waiting until January (hopefully not March) for the pre-release.

I'm displeased that it's not something that's going to be useful any time soon after release, if at all. A solo only class that can only reach level 50 and won't let you queue for roulettes, I cannot express just how deeply disappointed I was to hear of that.
Gaius van Baelsar: Nor is this unknown to your masters. Which prompts the question: what came first, the chicken or the egg?

Blue Mage sounds super fun, but like others have mentioned, its really a joy kill knowing that we'll only be able to "part time" a job that we always hoped to "full time". If some of my personal favorite jobs were added to the game like this, such as the Beast Master or Puppet Master I saw thrown around (Puppetmaster was my favorite from FFXI), I would be incredibly disappointed. I really do think Square can break the mold they've made for themselves, while at the same time allowing a job into end game. The emphasis on "first" in regards to limited Jobs has me pretty hopeful for experimental stuff. Wouldn't mind seeing 5.5 end up being a Beastmaster patch, for example. Go around taming a ton of different monsters, especially if you could even grab old hunt targets. Run around with Maahes doing all the fighting for you or some such.
A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
Whatever my dude enjoy your echo chamber, I'm just gonna pretend this doesn't exist until it's fixed.

i am concerned about the execution of blue mage, but i got the feeling if it does way i can enjoy the story as one job and do dungeons as another similar to how i play FFXI
if it dose super well we may see the inclusion of beast master or morpher and if morpher gets added i will be insanely happy.
i do wonder what skills / actions we will get in level 50 to 80 though for them.
i also hope in the future they add something for blue mage like the pvp bar of set skills to pve to allow them to join Duty finder, and all there skills in the open world
Sometimes you just got to have Some fun

It's something genuinely new, so I'll refrain from passing judgement until I can see how it goes. Something that's actually new is a rarity in this game.
I would also like to thank them for keeping it out of roulettes outside of premades

I suspected something like this when they announced it at the Keynote. Realistically, a Job like BLU is simply too difficult to include in any balanced fashion without heavily restricting it to fit the existing Role structure. Those restrictions exist on other classes for a reason.
I am not sure I wouldn't have preferred a BLU modified and restricted as a normal Job but frankly I didn't really think we would ever see true BLU working in a game format like FF14. With game formats like this any role or Job has to have a certain amount of specialisation and BLU is anything but.

I'm okay with this setup. It is something new. The Carnival sounds like it has the potential to be fun if done well and BLU seems like it could be interesting to play gameplay wise. Bummed that the cap will be 50 for now however.
