The Twitch chat was annoying to me, as I knew all the upset people didn't represent the real opinion. I like the idea of it opening up a variety of content. Evoker could happen as a broken version of what Summoner should be, for instance. There is some potential.

The emphasis on "first" in regards to limited Jobs has me pretty hopeful for experimental stuff. Wouldn't mind seeing 5.5 end up being a Beastmaster patch, for example. Go around taming a ton of different monsters, especially if you could even grab old hunt targets. Run around with Maahes doing all the fighting for you or some such.

Blue Mage sounds super fun, but like others have mentioned, its really a joy kill knowing that we'll only be able to "part time" a job that we always hoped to "full time". If some of my personal favorite jobs were added to the game like this, such as the Beast Master or Puppet Master I saw thrown around (Puppetmaster was my favorite from FFXI), I would be incredibly disappointed. I really do think Square can break the mold they've made for themselves, while at the same time allowing a job into end game. The emphasis on "first" in regards to limited Jobs has me pretty hopeful for experimental stuff. A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
turning a job into a sightseeing log isn’t a good idea, please delete this thread

Then you fail to understand what BLU is. Blue Mage/Yellow Mage/Mimic class has in almost all of it's incarnations, has been about traveling the world and defeating mobs to learn their attacks. To have it any other way would be a disgrace to said class/job/skill. Don't get me wrong, the restrictions aren't good, but they aren't bad either. With the amount of people that either come on these forums complaining about someone not playing a class right, being kicked from a party because they were told to play a class better, or that said class/job wasn't balanced/implemented right...can you really blame them for taking precautions with such an experimental class, because that's what BLU is. Or, would you rather have the mess that is SMN/SCH where they still don't know what to do or how to balance it?

This comment is so... iiirgh, and should be deleted... just accept that there are people who are looking forward to it, just because you find it stupid and lame, what you have written often enough in other threads does not mean that others should not look forward to it.

The only gripe I do have about BLU though is the god awful AF that we're getting at 50 and that we got a pimp cane/wand as a weapon instead of something unique and new. I can see some random player running around in their AF and using Tail Slap to troll other players in PvP.
But in all seriousness, you would think that despite coming out in 4.5, you would think that BLU was going to be the end all...be all for 5.0. As I stated above, blu will be the first job/class to utilize elemental strengths and exploit those same weaknesses on mobs outside of Eureka. What this means is that, not only are open world mobs getting an exp boost (not sure if the exp boost will only be available to BLU's or everyone), but they're gaining elemental traits outside of Eureka. Whatever is going to happen with this supposed new Calamity may very well change things. It's no Dalamud, but where ever the Ascians are involved, you're sure there some craziness not too far behind.
For now, all we know is that at 50 we get access to the Masked Carnival, but what other content does SE have planned? We don't know. It's not like they revealed the entirety of 5.0 to us in this one Fanfest. There's still two fan festivals to go, patches 4.5 parts 1 & 2, as well as a butt load of Live Letters before 5.0 goes live come summer 2019. Yes, it will suck if that's all Blu gets access to come lvl 50, but I've half of mind to believe there's going to be more and once they unlock the 80 cap for BLU we'll get access to more stuff. I mean, people are barely still running BCoB or Crystal Tower and queues outside of daily roulettes are hell if you're not on at peak times for your time zone/server. So what good will a lvl 50 be to everyone when it'll start at lvl 1 and have a cap at 50, which will only increase over increments of patches?
So the cons are, we're locked out of content and by the time we actually get to reach the lvl 80 cap, everyone else will be done with the current 5.0 content if we do finally get access to them. Pros, BLU opens up the door for so many possibilities.
