SO THAT'S WHY WE GET THE TRUST SYSTHEM AND BLUE MAGE!! We gotta play solo from now on!!

Looking at the bigger picture, I get it. By moving these high pop worlds to different data center; it frees up space, space that is need for such things like housing.
I can't help but feel there is a better solution though... But I guess our sub money and Mogstation goldmine need to go towards inflating the development cost of the FF7 remake, rather than being reinvested in the game that'll actually make SE money...
That they're going with the option that does this;
Is honestly shocking. I get they need to fix something, but giving us two crappy EU data centers that'll still go down weekly, now with half the population and missing friends? Great move /sarcasm
I would actually honestly rather they do nothing. I'm used to Chaos being a mess, I'd rather things stay the same than see everything torn apart like this. I'll take a shitty server with friends over a working server without, but I'll get a shitty server without anyway, most likely. Can't see this really fixing anything, the issue hasn't seemed to be overpopulation in my experience. That might flare up the network and hardware issues, but this is like treating the symptom, not the disease...

I started the game around 3-4 months ago and it kinda feels like a solo game already to me. People tend to be quiet during dungeon runs so replacing them with trusts would make no real difference. The only exception being Eureka but I've only done Amenos.
In the discussions that my FC has been having, Balmung hasn't come up that often, and when it does... it's not RP were talking about. It's the potential for server strain... as you guys are an absolutely massive server. The server WE DO have apprehensions about RP from is Mateus, who additionally are also extremely huge. Really, our attention's focused more on Mateus. On a somewhat unrelated note, I think you might have a few misconceptions yourself about exactly how much spam we small servers get from RMT bots.I'm not understanding why some people are reacting with hesitation about sharing a server with Balmung, unless its meant as a joke. Do you think people queue for content just to RP? Ul'dah is my favourite city and yet the only way I can stumble into RP on my chatlog is if I walk into the Quicksand - and even then it's just a bunch of people standing around targetting each other. I'm sure you're used to worse spam from RMT bots. If anything it livens up the place and makes the game experience feel more authentic, not that you have to worry about that unless you actually visit.
With that said, I'm not looking forward to people visiting Balmung with alts just to troll because they take all the memes at face value........... nor what it will do to our economy, uff.![]()
Though, I can't speak for servers other than Bryn and Famfrit(where my alt is), the only places I ever see any are the market areas of the 3 starting cities.

Maybe I missed something because I'm not seeing where they said they plan to grab the High Pop World like Balmung and Excalibur; crack them like an egg and split them among three different data centers. FC's are world based and won't be effected. The only thing that is going to be hit is the cross world duty finders and LS; fairly new features in the game.
What did I miss in the announcement that everyone is so fired up about?
Individual players in a FC might want to move, splitting existing FCs up, potentially killing some depending on size. The entire FC might want to move, meaning they need to start from scratch AFAIK. Less of an issue for bigger FCs, kind of a problem for smallers ones (especially when you factor in Housing), sucks for FC Airships/Submarines in either case unless I'm remembering how that works wrong (will lose all progress on them I believe).

Cross world statics are going to be affected.Maybe I missed something because I'm not seeing where they said they plan to grab the High Pop World like Balmung and Excalibur; crack them like an egg and split them among three different data centers. Friends you've met in DF and PF are going to be affected.
With World Visiting, it's only a matter of time before they open it up to Datacenter Visiting. . . though wouldn't surprise me if they tacked a monthly fee for that option.
