(Spoiler, Kinda) Gunblade job 'concern'

If they can make it work better as a DPS, in terms of delivering on the job "fantasy", I don't mind. There will be other opportunities to add a tank - maybe even one they take advantage of in 5.0.

That said, a non-plate tank would be interesting, even if they're unlikely to ever go to the effort of adding one.

What if it's in evasion tank? They give it an Utsusemi type of skill. Lightning's been brought up a few times. Her Sentinel tool-kit is built around not getting hit.

I think it would cause trouble in balancing fight to define what is dodgable, what is not cause yeah having two tank you barely have to heal cause they just dodge any incoming damage is quite the cheesy way in raid when monoheal is already a pretty doable thing in most of the fight.

Yeah, he has always preferred to be stylish and I do approve of his get up in the trailer. Either way I can't wait to get my hands on a Gunblade. I've been waiting forever it seems like.

I am a little out of touch since i am a bit inconsistent to the game right now, so i have to ask since i might have bypassed some info, but... Why is everyone treating Gunblade as a tank class already? I mean, when i think of gunblade i think about a melee dps Job, with the 'gun' part of the blade as a augmentation of the dps and a Limit Break like a Renzokuken of some sort.

Also, i am a bit tired of seeing sword wield classes being treated as tanks (looking at you, DRK) instead of dps, but that is just me.

Why is everyone treating Gunblade as a tank class already?

There's someone who's been leaking stuff for a while now who has been pretty much dead on every time, including Blue Mage being a 4.5 patch Job instead of an expansion one. This same person has stated that the two jobs coming in Shadowbringers are a tank Gunblade job and Dancer as a healer.

In February they can announce gun blade as the second 'limited job'.

The guy in the trailer with the Gunblade (Pretty sure it's Thancred) is wearing an alarming amount of leather.. and not much plate, please don't be another Melee DPS. We need more tanks and healers.

I know NPC outfits are't indicative of a job's role, but it's still concerning to say the least, let's hope this isn't the case.

I understand where you are coming from but if "Gunblade" was a tank it doesn't mean we are going to have more people tank. People who want to tank/heal do and those who don't play don't. Adding more isn't going to change that fact.
