I believe that Blue Mage will come in ten level increments.

We’ll get 50 in 4.5, 60 in 5.0, 70 in 5.1, and then 80 in 5.2

It does probably mean many months of watching the job grow, but on the bright side, perhaps this one can grow with fan feedback over time, and could be quite worthwhile long term.

I'm actually grateful they seem to be allowing us to 'test' the job ahead of the expansion. Particularly since it's so foreign compared to how classes have operated up until this point. My only hope is that they actually listen to whatever feedback is provided and improve upon it, rather than doubling down on potentially bad design as has been their desire in the past. All in all though this is the most excited I've been for a class in literal years.

It'll probably always be at least a step behind, even if it does reach 80 during Shadowbringers. Being able to copy just about anything with no set role, to my understanding, it's definitely something that would be limited to old content only just to avoid breaking relevant content.

Then why have the job? That would be pointless.

I think there going to unlock the other 30 levels for 5.0 when they're will be new skills and abilities to learn. Plus it allows them to test the class until then and balance it in advance a bit.

To see how you can break old content? It's not like there aren't a million reasons already to go screwing around in old stuff, wouldn't hurt to have a class built around the concept.

It could be like a mini game type job that you play for certain dungeons but not for current content.

Depends on how they aim to do it. It's possible that the job could be (potentially) so overpowered or designed as a one job for all roles type of design that it needs to be that way. Essentially, the job you play as for the I.W.I.N. button. I sincerely doubt it'd go that route but, again, it could be possible.

i think blue its gonna be a solo job, they will add lvls and skills on it but you will get it by solo content and you are going to be able to do that solo content only

Well, I am certainly more interested in BLU than I was before. I had figured that Blue Mage would ultimately just get its spells through quests and be fairly generic.

It's nice to see that a learning system is actually in play, it is definitely something they will have to commit to going forward. My hope is that we will be considering what spells a BLU will get a chance to learn, adding another layer of interest to things like patch notes.
