Can we stop derailing feature requests and support each other?

When somebody says "they can't feasibly do x because of y", that leaves room to come back and say "okay, how about x with z change?" And that might even be a solution that hasn't been thought of yet.

I agree in principle, in practice though Y is quite often a wild assumption totally lacking in evidence.
