You're simply not able to buy a second house (for your alt) in the first place - so no chance to lose out on 2 million gil.

The only way of owning more than one house would be work arounds with dummy FCs (considered rather "shady" by most people).

You can obviously give up your mains medium house and then buy that smalle house for your alt, but you cant have more than one house at a time in the first place.

I have no interest in doing that it would just be a hassle anyhow besides already in a FC and dont care to leave it just to have a house. no help being in an fc of one when i need a real fc to do raids and runs with. and as for giving u my medium house, thats not even a thought. worked too hard and waited too long for the right spot i wanted to let go of that house but while i understand the need to limit the house buying obviously its not working of people can make dummy guilds to buy up slots. Besides when this was done SE should have made a house owned by one sprite accessible to all the sprite owned by the user on the same server to begin with.

I merely wanted to point out all the options you have indeed available.

As I mentioned myself, I dont agree with the option to basically have dummy FCs just to own more houses, but oh well. And it is working in the sense of making it more of a hassle to get more houses that way - your post is actually proof of that when you point out that thats to much "effort" to get a house. So it is working - to an extend.
No real need to go over the flaws of the housing system yet again, that horse has been beaten to death (and made into lasagna) by now. Fingers crossed for medium and large apartments at this point.

To answer your question in regards to sharing houses with alts: While that would be indeed a nice feature, I wouldnt advise you to hold your breath for it. For the most part all your characters are treated as totally seperate enteties.
Best way to go here would be to ask your FC to put up a bell and merchants in an FC-house and have all your alts join that FC.
