Housing Question

I think this is a technical question since technically, as i understand it, we cant have more then one house on the same server. But my question is, I have two different characters on the same server. My main has a med sized house my alt, who i made to play other classes other than my main, Was able to buy an apartment but id like to buy a small house for him. Now can i buy a house on my alt even though hes on the same server as my main cause if i buy one and later it gets taken away cause of the housing restrictions i dont want to loose out on 2 million gil. Not looking to buy up any med or large houses just a small cottage for my alt which there is plenty of open plots on my server.

You're simply not able to buy a second house (for your alt) in the first place - so no chance to lose out on 2 million gil.

The only way of owning more than one house would be work arounds with dummy FCs (considered rather "shady" by most people).

You can obviously give up your mains medium house and then buy that smalle house for your alt, but you cant have more than one house at a time in the first place.

I was told that SE was supposed to be making houses owned by one character on the server available to the alts on the same server. any information on when that will be implemented? cause it would be great if i could just have access to my bells and merchants in my mains house to all my alts.

I have no interest in doing that it would just be a hassle anyhow besides already in a FC and dont care to leave it just to have a house. no help being in an fc of one when i need a real fc to do raids and runs with. and as for giving u my medium house, thats not even a thought. worked too hard and waited too long for the right spot i wanted to let go of that house but while i understand the need to limit the house buying obviously its not working of people can make dummy guilds to buy up slots. Besides when this was done SE should have made a house owned by one sprite accessible to all the sprite owned by the user on the same server to begin with.

...let me assure you that I have no intrest in getting your medium house.

I merely wanted to point out all the options you have indeed available.

As I mentioned myself, I dont agree with the option to basically have dummy FCs just to own more houses, but oh well. And it is working in the sense of making it more of a hassle to get more houses that way - your post is actually proof of that when you point out that thats to much "effort" to get a house. So it is working - to an extend.
No real need to go over the flaws of the housing system yet again, that horse has been beaten to death (and made into lasagna) by now. Fingers crossed for medium and large apartments at this point.

To answer your question in regards to sharing houses with alts: While that would be indeed a nice feature, I wouldnt advise you to hold your breath for it. For the most part all your characters are treated as totally seperate enteties.
Best way to go here would be to ask your FC to put up a bell and merchants in an FC-house and have all your alts join that FC.

And yes, they have mentioned making them accessible to all your characters; however, the caution comes because SE mentions a lot of things that then don't happen for years, if at all. I hope they will, but even if they do I doubt it would be before 5.0 (middle of 2019).
