All the mounts you've mentioned (and that they've recently made capable of flight) were just...unnecessary. The behemoth mount especially. Of all the mounts to alter, why those and not the horses first? Kirin was given wings not long after HW launched.i'm of the feeling that the primal ponies will get their due eventually - they're just now starting to work their way down the list of mounts to make them all eventually flight capable. Hence why you're seeing some of the first mounts in the game now being given flight - behe, goobue, cavalry drake. just be patient takes time to add effects and other animations/what not for flight.

I don't see how it would be that challenging to put a rainbow or a cloud under the horse for it to run on, it could fade away behind it. I think that would look just fine
I feel the same way. So your not alone on this.I did find it odd that none of the primal horses could fly yet but things that have absolutely no lore reason to fly can. I am personally of the mind, and I'm sure it's an unpopular opinion, that not everything needs to fly. I also feel it's weird that all flying mounts can swim. I kind of like the idea of having swimming mounts, land mounts and Flying mounts. But that's just me looking at it from a lore perspective. Kind of makes things less unique when everything can do everything, but what do I know.Mounts like the primal horses should have been one of only a few types of original ground mounts that could actually be able to fly through the air (and Leviathan's could swim).
Personally, I think it's just a waste of resources to make everything fly just because and it indeed takes the fun out of owning a mount that actually can fly or swim when you see a Fat Chocobo swimming like a mermaid or a Behemoth gassing it's way through the air (neither literally, of course, but both would actually be quite entertaining to see).

They'll eventually be made to fly. Everything else is, so why not? The only ones that might not ever fly would be the first tank mounts.

considering they already have horse flying animation available and they already have particle effects around their feet i'd say... they just don't want to
Squeenix Logic.
Next topic, please. =p

At this point there's not a lot of reason to not have everything fly now that everything that was lore specific/logically sensical was thrown out the window.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I am also of an unpopular opinion regarding such things. I'm a bit of a conservative and favor and support traditional values. SE was of a like-mind at one point but continues to jeopardize this by caving into player demand and allowing flight to mounts like gobbues, drakes, and behemoths. So at this point, there really is no reason to not just give flight to everything, including primal ponies.I did find it odd that none of the primal horses could fly yet but things that have absolutely no lore reason to fly can. I am personally of the mind, and I'm sure it's an unpopular opinion, that not everything needs to fly. I also feel it's weird that all flying mounts can swim. I too remember the translations showing that the 6 Elemental Primal ponies of the ARR patches were planned to be among the grounded mounts to fly a few months/patches after the Kirin mount flies.
But I guess they're trying to delay the ponies flying because the ARR Extreme Primals can be beaten by a well-geared party very fast via the unsync option. And they can be beaten solo unsynced as well should the player be good enough to follow mechanics and use their attack rotations well.
