Let’s discuss Dancer

Let’s speculate.

So what if Dancer is the new healing job scheduled for the next expansion. What do you think their weapon will be? I know lore wise it’s suppose to be a dagger but what if it wasn’t. I would love for them to have either a single fan or double fans and be ranged healers like the rest.

If you had your way. What would their weapon be? And would you want them to be melee or ranged healers.

Not sure what I’d want to be their weapon, but I’d like to see a melee-ranged healer. DNC using TP in FFXIV as they did in FFXI could also be interesting, or they could use both TP and MP.

I'd go for the kind of cloth it wears in ff tactic or chakram

Fans or chakram could have some pretty nice designs going for them, and I've got myself invested in a physical ranged/caster hybrid healer so they could be pretty cool in that regard. Kind of hope it's not just a dagger as while that's more fitting for the history it's a little bland when they could make it literally anything.

If it is dancer as the leaks claim, I wonder how the animations will be. Will SE make one flow into the next somehow? Can they keep it from getting messy when you factor in off globals?

I guess rythmic gymnastics would be the most obvious source of inspiration in which case the most likely weapons would be hoops (chakram), balls, clubs or ribbons. While ribbons don't sound too bad I really would be disappointed if the weapon is too much of a cliché.

I don't know..maybe a combination of open shoework with some kind of blade attached to it (for dmg) and a flying ribbon/veil (for healing)? It could work similar to the paladin with a main and offhand.

If it's not an actual Hybrid of any sort that brings something truly new to the game... I honestly couldn't care less, even though I love the aesthetic.

I'd like a melee heal, withs fans as weapons maybe...
It would have several combos (like melees and tanks), one for DPS (maybe with a dot / slashing debuff), one for Mana/TP recovery.
And a system of "steps" similar to the ninja' mudras; with more possibilities maybe, that would generate various buffs and heals. And to avoid the problems Ninja is facing currently, I'd made those steps part of the GCD, but using them would bring the GCD down to 1,5 sec, like the RDM melee combo. It would make it a bit dynamic.

Well that's my fantasy haha. +20% potency when there is a bard in the team.

Gonna be awfully hard to show off their dance moves wearing flowing white robes and dresses that the devs like slapping on the healer gear.
