I'm serious about not using shield lob. There was a time in a dungeon when a player asked me to use shield lob, and I simply said "No... Flash is enough. Trust me. I've done this multiple times without shield lob." And then he/she accepted it and we finished the dungeon just fine. So that's that.

So, you are literally body pulling when you engage mobs and that is going to cause you massive problems later, especially when you start queueing up with better geared players. There is not any reason for you to not be pulling trash mobs and bosses with Shield Lob, the tool tip on it is a dead giveaway that that is what you should be doing to pull or initiate. Flash won't be enough once you get into end-game content and If you'd rather not find this out the hard way I'd recommend to start pulling with SL.

And as a Mateus paladin main, I'm not the best but at the very least when someone almost a year ago told me to pull with shield lob, I did.

And now I always do, and I only loose aggro when I'm UNDERGEARED to others and I quickly move to fix that. This guy just hurts me :/

Almost fell into the trap myself. Wrote something, then read his post again and asked myself: With that kind of "tanking" he should lose enmity at least 90% of the time and not keep it, also if he holds enmity 90% of the time with 30% not being happy and 30% being happy but... okay this sounds strange I mean if he is doing fine 90% of the time why would 30% of those who run a dungeon with him feel they needed to say how unhappy they were with him? He also said in the title that he can't tank yet when people here say anything he suddenly can because of commendation. Oh and what about this refusal to use shield lob? Never having used the enmity combo? Rather certain that combo is the strongest combo for a paladin on some level range. Hmm... ya this guy is trolling.
After talking with myself I went and did something else. Good to have my suspicions found true, so thanks for that and erhm... I feel your pain sharing server with that fellow.

You came here asking for thoughts / suggestions, and then proceed to ignore or even bash the suggestions (which are correct by the way) that were offered. People took the time in responding with the actual skills and rotations you're expected to use.

If you want to keep doing things the wrong way, that's fine--but don't every expect to ever clear any serious content with that kind of attitude. Provoke should really only ever be used for tank swaps or getting back a mob that a DPS stole away (which should hardly ever happen).

Btw, most of the time, if a dungeon gets completed without really any hiccups, usually people don't say anything. Many times a tank receives the commendations because he/she is the one leading the run and setting the pace. Also, the tank's name is at the top of the list, so that makes it a simple choice for someone hurrying to give their comm and get out of the dungeon.

So, my advice? Listen to the advice that others have given you to improve. Your thread title states you do not know how to tank. No, using flash on a boss is not optimal. Provoke does not initiate aggro--it only puts you at +1 over the person with the highest aggro at the moment. Don't ignore shield lob--it should be the first thing you use on a boss.

A final thought ... a person that asks for thoughts / advice / etc. and then refutes or rebukes said advice, well, then that person is a fool in my book.
