Didn't we already saw the garlean palace from outside in a cutscene?
I think it was the one right before we saw Varis spits on the casket of his uncle.

I forgot what anime I've watched that makes me think of this, but it's something like black futuristic metropolis 'city' and a giant castle at the center...

It will look like Vector from the covers of various versions of FFVI.
While the Garlean empire seems to take a lot from the Gestahlian one from FF6 especially with magitek,Garlemald seems to be more advanced than what the steampunk tech of the Gestahlian empire seems to offer
Which is why I pictured it a bit more like FF 7's Midgar but a little more technologically advanced
I'm thinking it'll look like a cross between Midgar and Galbadia Big tall imposing building but a city with vehicles large monuments to Garlean structures a wealthy district entertainment district etc.
i really do not want Garlemald to be a dungeon i still have hope they may allow a more explorative Ala Mhigo at some point due the the orchestrion roll specifically mentioning "can be obdtained in the the instance Ala Mhigo" most likely the idea was scraped but i wanna hope for a true Ala Mhigo city
It will probably have buildings with air conditioners
"Those savage Eorzeans spend all day sweaty ugh.."
On a serious note... Probably more futuristic than cities like Galbadia or Midgar... I'd imagined it something like Xenogear's Solaris, but with the castrums color schemes. I also imagine it being the elite version, and the lower class version being something like Midgar's slums.

Hmmm, I think it'll be interesting to see what the most advanced city (that we know of) in Hydaelyn will look like, whatever its form, but based on the existing "cermet-clad-everything" castra/castella I'd say I imagine something along the lines of a cross between Archades and Vector (after all, XII and VI do seem influential on Garlemald in some ways). I guess I could see it being more modern a la Midgar or Gralea, but at this stage I can't really imagine futuristic like Eden.
Maybe I just have Gralea on my mind because I recently played XV, but that combined with the "it better not be a dungeon" wariness had me wondering what sort of mischief the Ascians could get up to in Garlemald since it has kind of been "hijacked" in purpose by them.
For reference, Gralea, the Imperial (enemy) capital is the setting of the penultimate chapter, and by the time the player gets to visit there, it has served its purpose as the Dakness-aligned antagonist's tool and is nothing more than a daemon (think voidsent) infested dungeon.
I'm not expecting them to repeat story beats of course, but it made me wonder what lengths the ascians might go to keep the chaos rolling if/when the WoL gets there.

"8000 malms to Eorzea we've come, 'cross both a Continent and an Ocean (and we did it in one-fifth of a second)"

Considering how I love Ancient far eastern archictecture, gothic architecture, pine forests, the sea and (only in games, not IRL) areas that look like somebody overdosed on LSD (Think Sylphlands or Azys Lla) I expect Garlean cities to look boring. Sorry. I hope I'm wrong and will gladly admit if I am, but I really don't look foward to the new areas in 5.0

Ooh, yeah! It'll be a dungeon - but a solo instance, where the player is restricted to three abilities and has to spend two hours running around mostly-identical abandoned corridors!
The true FFXV experience.
