Should I wait for the i390 or keep getting tome gear?

MCH begrudgingly sacrifices weapon damage to not be bombarded with skill speed (because their raid weapon sucks). Bit different than a job that willingly sacrifices weapon damage in favor of a substat.

Not really—

BRD takes the i385 Suzaku bow over the i390/i400 Tome bow because it has Crit on it.
MCH takes the i390/i400 Tome gun over the i405 Savage gun because it doesn’t have Skill Speed. NOT because it has Crit on it.

It’s not really the same thing.

An addendum to this. The Omega gun is still, technically, better according to Balance. Most BiS still use it, though because SkS is worthless to MCH, you do have the option without it being a big hindrance. Meanwhile, if you switched the stats on the Omega Bow with the Tome Bow, the latter is instantly BiS without a second thought.
