Power-leveling is absolutely BROKEN

Should have just stole their camp. Its not like they are all going to try to out pull you with all the low levels.


I mean fine if people wanna PL to 40 and then take 10 levels in grinding parties to learn. I did it with a couple of jobs. But i dont intend to play those ever again

I don't mind PL parties, they are great if your time is limited. However, soloing absolutelly sucks at this moment.

That pretty much forces people to party and let me tell you, would you rather spend 10 hrs to gain 10 levels or 4 hrs? I think that's a pretty easy answer.

If they fix soloing again the way it used to be before 1.18 i bet people will solo more often and this whole PL discussion would fade away.

i'm sure some1 must have brought this up, but with so many pages i'm not hunting through this monster thread to find it. i was wondering for a new player to be powered leveled, don't they find them self at a disadvantage "oo look at my lv 45 lnc, in lv 10 gear" because you got no gil to buy gear at your level. if you level normally, i'm guessing you would make more gil on the way. is this logic right or wrong?

if you end up at 45 before anyone cares about your gear, you'll have access to the currently cheaper high level equipment and the more lucrative (and easier due to scaling) leves at 40+

There are two finite resources we are talking about here.

1. Players
2. Camps

For every PL-party there is at least 2 players less that is available for grind-parties. And for every PL-party there is 1 less camp that is available for grind-parties. Unfortunately it's a zero-sum game. The existence PL-parties hinders grind-parties. The more prevalent PL-parties are, the more they hinder grind-parties.

Now this logic also holds true for soloing. So by my logic, soloing also hinders grind-parties, no?? Yes ... but to a much smaller extent. It only takes one player out of the potential grind-party pool, instead of two. Multiply that difference to a server scale and it's dramatic. Also, to DarkstarPoet's point, the XP earned by playing solo is arithmetically comparable (half, double, triple, etc) with grind-party XP. Meanwhile PL-party XP is exponentially larger (10x, 100x, etc) than grind-party XP. That exaggerated XP growth only encourages more PL-parties, and diminishes the ability of grind-parties to form even further.

Some can argue that PL-parties are just a "playstyle", and that players should be able to do it because it doesn't hurt anything ... but I wouldn't make that argument.

How does a pl pt hinder a grind pt when another grind pt could be in that spot and hinder another pt from grinding......

why don't you follow my posts and learn how to read them. i never once stated power leveling should be removed completely. what i said is it should be put in balance with the sp you get in a grind party. if they were the same people would have the option to do either without being gimped by doing so.

i have no issues with an 8 person party getting power leveled. what i have a problem with is that same group of 8 getting power leveled gets 10x the sp that another group of 8 that is grinding gets. if they both got the same amount of sp then the issue would be done imo.

i am not asking for power leveling to be removed, but want it to be in line with the other parties. if you cannot agree that both types of parties should be put in line with each other then, yes, i stick by the your ignorant.
