Probably not. We had an entire alliance of the base classes, and I quote them directly, "on a quest to find their job crystals".

I once did a LotA with 8 friends and our alliance was 6/8 classes. Probably the most fun I’ve had because we were just joking around. Inb4 people say we were being inconsiderate, the GLA in our group was the one who MT’d the entire time because the other tanks couldn’t take hate from him.

I think I remember someone queueing into Dun Scaith as a Thaumaturge once. Not a black mage, a Thaumaturge. I may be remembering wrong though.

Apparently this is a thing. Last week I was on SCH in Lighthouse. We had an Arcanist in our party. Wearing 380 crafted gear.
Looking at their search info. they DIDN'T have job stones at all.. They had a few other classes also without job stones but not that high (Second highest was a 50 or 60 I believe)
One of the other alliance members kept asking why they don't like job stones. but got no reply.

So, um what do you do when you run into a person from the forums who've made one of the many "They might not be a Bad player because ___" threads and you're not sure it's them even when they ahh give an excuse they use as an example in their list of why a person might not be bad? I didn't kick them on part of not being sure it was them post the omg I can't believe they actually do this even after almost everyone in the thread said doing so is not cool happened. Also wasn't sure I'd get it to go through either. There was another reason for any mistakes that they gave later and it is one that I'd normally brush off but as it was coming from said person it made me think dang maybe you shouldn't be quing for stuff right now? There were some other nitpicks n play styles that they did that as a person who plays the job they were on as their main that weren't really worth a comment on but just added to the wow factor.

If you're talking about me I'm far from a bad player. Not the best or probably not close either but I'm not a bad player. I just am not quick to point fingers and insult people over something which really doesn't matter that much.

Cleared o9s tonight, my static was happy with my performance. Midgardsormr is next. we only started raiding like a week ago, and only 2 times a week (last week all 4 dps were sick which kept us from clearing then).

Queued for leveling roulette as tank, got one "33 minutes in progress". Oh dear.

Tentatively enter the dungeon - it's the Aery and the final boss music is playing. I make my way up to the end of the dungeon.

The healer promptly spends their Swiftcast to apply Protect. (not relevant in the end, but why???)

The battle actually goes okay, up until we're a second too late getting under the shield. Everyone dies but the healer, they raise me, they die, I see if I can get anywhere with finishing the fight solo. Unsurprisingly I don't last all that long, but it means I'm some way behind the rest of the group by the time I die and respawn at the beginning. All good, start the hike back again.

Except... I'm getting system messages in the chat log as I make my way along the path. The rest of the party have gone back into the boss room without me.

They die. The healer quits. We sit around and twiddle our thumbs until we eventually get a new healer (a first-timer who did an excellent job, but will have missed out on cutscenes).

This would have been so much quicker if people just waited, and actually had a second try with the full group instead of abandoning.

What's up with those new Ninjas lately?

I'm not gonna lie, I've run into this issue today as well, twice. Both ninjas didn't use any of their mudra. I spoke up and asked why they weren't using their mudra (keep in mind, this is in back-to-back runs). Both times, they told me they either didn't know where 'mudra' was in their abilities list, or what a mudra was.

In the Great Gubal Library. A level 59 dungeon.

The first run, I only noticed during a wipe on the final boss that the ninja had only cast maybe 3 or 4 ninjutsu for the entire run, and no Shadow Fang whatsoever. The only thing they did was use their AE combo. By the time we fought the final boss after the wipe, I managed to get them to, at the very least, use Huton. They did not use Shadow Fang at all, even though I suggested it multiple times as that DoT would help - but hey, they at least use Huton>Hide before pull, so it was something. Hopefully after that run, they actually practice ninja because I could imagine a scenario where they'll run into less patient players. This was the player who was trying to look in their abilities list for the actual term 'mudra', not realizing that I was referring to Ten Chi Jin until I mentioned the hand signs.

The other run, however, this ninja had no idea about mudra. I think this one might have been level boosted, though, just based on the little bit of conversation I had with them. I asked if they would be fine with me giving a few tips along the run after we completely wiped on the first boss, and they accepted. I pointed out two mudra that would've been helpful for the run, because in my mind, if they were level boosted, learning all seven ninjutsu in the course of a single dungeon run would've been beyond me (on the grounds that this is a level 59 dungeon...not the place where one should be learning mudra, shadow fang, and trick attack).

I am also not sure what is going on with new ninjas nowadays. Not doing doton, suiton, or keeping up huton...I can sort of get, but not casting a single mudra or applying shadow fang at all...that throws up red flags for me.

Or is that too elitist of me to expect at that point in the game?

I do the same thing leveling just about any non-healer class anymore. They're so cheap because of PotD that I just keep a stockpile on hand all the time in case I accidentally stand in something or the tank & healer both die.

Yes, it was you and when I joined you had still been dealing with a new UI setup which was the oh wait it can't be thought moment. Like I said I get rl distractions and normally don't mind when they come up. The rest was just play style differences that would be seen as nit picks like not using dots, holying on just three mobs and maybe using medica II more often than needed. I probably had more of a dislike towards the tank on that run than you. I also don't hold myself in a "I'm the best" thought as I know I'm not as I've done things with better healers let alone better whms.

It's not a new thing with ninjas sadly. I'd get a lot of ninjas during ARR and HW that wouldn't have a kiss up or keep up Huton. Course I've seen a lot of dps and not just ninjas that don't aoe at all on huge trash packs. It really sucks when I'm healing and the pack is dying so slowly because neither of the dps are aoeing that there becomes a strain on the tank and myself just to keep it together. It's just crazy to me how lazy a lot of dps can be that when you do get paired up with ones that aren't you have an "oh that's why things are melting" ah ha type moment.

holying on just three mobs

Holy should be used when you have 3 or more mobs. And while doing some searching this morning, I found someone doing the math and saying it can even be a DPS gain on 2+.
