I think I remember someone queueing into Dun Scaith as a Thaumaturge once. Not a black mage, a Thaumaturge. I may be remembering wrong though.

To be fair, it's not like dungeon gear drops are the only means of obtaining gear while leveling. There's plenty of NPC vendors that will sell workable gear, and you have Poetics to snag Shire stuff that'll last from 60-64 or so. Not to mention people can run dungeons outside of roulettes to keep trying for what they need. You also have the market board if you're that desperate. Basically, there's no excuse to be undergeared for a dungeon while leveling.I wanted to say it might be a boosted job until you mentioned the low level accessories. Roulette can be kind of weird in that it might give you nothing but low level dungeons nonstop and suddenly give you a high level one. Not advocating bad play but that might be one of the reasons is all.

Quoted for emphasis. I reminded an FC member to upgrade their level 1 ring with something cheap, but the next day they came crying to me because they got kicked for being undergeared. As a 60+ dragoon. With a level 1 ring.To be fair, it's not like dungeon gear drops are the only means of obtaining gear while leveling. They then got extra offended when I told them they earned that kick.

Oh hey Liam, I see you around all the time on Zodiark in your fancy Rakshasa set. What's impressive is to reach the Vault, they must have gone through a large chunk of HW, solo duties and all with a lv48 weapon, barely any vit and missing about a half or more of their dps and never noticed something was really wrong.. I mean, I know leveling is easy, but that can't have been easy.
Back on topic, so much agreement.... but... I can understand why that happens even though it is frustrating to all hell. So many new plyers completely miss all of their job quests, bar the first one at level 1 and that has likely happened in this scenario, with no guidance and/or prompting from their friend. Some may disagree with me but I tend to find the duties within the job questline are a little more difficult and expect you to have slightly better gear (even with the echo buff added - I found the level 65 DRK one the worst so far when I was in sub-level 63 gears and I'm an experienced long term player *shrugs*) compared to the ones in the main scenario which tend to include a bunch of NPC's who pick up the tanking and adds for the most part leaving people with more scope to get through them in lower level gears.
I have to add that the NIN's friend was also culpable in that scenario as they should have advised their friend to upgrade their gearset... or, they had planned for it to be a terrible dps run with the intention of grabbing some ilvl57 gear drops for the NIN rather than spending gil maybe. *shrugs*

So I had the misfortune of getting sastasha with a healer who had lvl 1 gear..... This was all on my Alt as well.
Good thing I went in with a friend since oh boy. So we say our hello and what not and head off. No protect. Friend (the tank btw) ask if the healer well use protect. Healer says no not right lvl for it. I haven't played low lever healer in a while had to ask LS members what lvl it was. It was 16. Healer lvls to 16 gets protect and casts it. Okay, cool. Then the healer start to run ahead and pull the mobs..... Right. I then come find out this healer has a few 50 jobs and one 60. I also learn she lvled through PotD. Somehow we managed to get thought the dungeon without further indecent. However, just before the last boss we pull a small group of adds. I'm doing my thing as SAM. Trying my best to kill adds as fast as I can. I look to my friend HP bar and see it going dangerously low and then die.
Wheres the healer? She decided to let the tank die and leave. No, warring or anything. After lamenting in chat we get a new healer, as cute AST lala and clear boss..... yeah.
:/ Now I see why people dislike bad players so much.... I'm by no means the best...but c'mon. lvl 1 gear? You can get better gear in the Hall of the Novice.

"I like Elezen......it's a thing I have."( ̄▽+ ̄*)

That sounds more like a troll than a player performing poorly. So I had the misfortune of getting sastasha with a healer who had lvl 1 gear..... This was all on my Alt as well.

Sastasha with a tank that is synced down is not a problem though. The healer couldn't have done any other dungeon (except Palace of the Dead) so they queued for it manually too. If most of that dungeon can be solo-healed by a fairy, a lvl15+ healer with lvl1 gear should be able to as well.
Still not an excuse not to have something higher than level 1 though, especially not as a player with much higher level classes.

I have a nice Satasha story too. I saw the hero in was a healer for low level so I queued up. Thing popped, 10 min in progress. I prepared for the worse. Get in and see it's Satasha and I'm like why would a healer leave? I see the group is just a Marauder, Rogue, and Arcanist. I figured the old healer just didn't want to teach or whatever. I catch up to them, they're in front of the Coeurl. And everything goes fine. The group is nice. The tank was holding aggro really well, I just don't get why the old healer left. The only red flag was that the tank only had like 30 more HP than me, but again he was a MRD in gear appropriate for the dungeon and I'm a i378 SCH. At one point the rogue asked if my character was a boy or girl. I know I'm wearing a thick coat and even male elves in media are notoriously effeminate, but come on. I have bright pink hair tied in a side ponytail. It made me laugh so I gave her the comm.
Probably not. We had an entire alliance of the base classes, and I quote them directly, "on a quest to find their job crystals".
