I looked at the gif, I know that latency is an issue, but the OP also described having problems to deal with several mechanic at once, even though the latency in regards to the explosion shouldnt influence them.

To me this seems more like a combination of the latency-issues AND the OP struggeling with dealing with Simon Says on top of a second mechanic. I merely suggested ways to deal with those mechanics in an easier way.
Unless latency is so bad that it affects surecast, he can use that to deal with the push back/pull in.
And as I said: Personally, even with latency, I found the mindcontrol-ones to be the most easiest once to dodge, if you position yourself correctly. Unless the timing is terribly off due to even worse latency for other people, you have tha dvantge of starting on a clear platform and the game timing it so that you run into the explosion that just went off - obviously assuming you placed yourself correctly before.

OP said he can dodge the Simon Says by running around in a circle, so in his case latency seems to be at least "good" enough that there is no gif-rubberbanding.
That leaves him struggling with mechanics in a way he shouldnt be struggeling if he dealt with them in an easier or more informed way. To me the post of the OP doesnt sound like someone whos primarly struggeling with latency, but more with having to pay attention to two mechanics at the same time - one thats a bit more troubling for him due to said latency, I'll admit that.

But falling into the hole as caster when you have surecast? That doesnt sound like a latency-issue to me...

Avoiding the exploding platform requires you to do some adjustments based off your connection's latency, if you have high latency you'll need to move "ahead" of time to perform the action. For my connection I need to move into the platform 0.5 sec before it will explode and I'll be fine.

Your character can only be in one spot at anytime, since the mechanics hit detection seems to be calculated on the server side you will be hit by the mechanic if your character is standing in the wrong tile on the server side as it triggers. Say that you have a very bad connection and it has a delay of 2 seconds (hyperbole), you will need to move out of the way 2 seconds prior to the platform actually exploding, meaning you'll need to run into an exploding platform around 1.5 seconds before it explodes, watch on your screen that you are standing on the explosion but not getting hit due to the latency.

If your connection is not stable then not much you can do as your connection is unpredictable.

The problem is worse on the gif because the trigger on the forced march is also affected by the delay, however your forced march is probably relaying your position normally. So with the same example of 2 seconds delay, your character will start moving 2 seconds after the server gives your character the forced march command, and another 2 seconds of delay for your PC sending your new position back to the server.

I play from NZ so my ping is quite high 100-250 but I can avoid the problem in the gif 90% of the time, you just have to be really precise at where you are standing. In the case of the gif you can see that he had could've travelled into the brown earlier and would not have been hit since brown was the first tile to explode.

Basically what I did when I got my weapon. I don't particularly enjoy the inconsistency of how the floor mechanic acts. I hear it's better than it was on patch week but still not acting how it's intended to.

Never had this issue personally. Especially doing it that way.
I've had problems with the latency quite a bit myself while farming. But I do agree they're doing it the 'difficult' way.

Just activate Surecast at the start of the second color set. I've farmed her with Red Mage and had no problem by doing it that way.

My ping hangs around 190-200+, but yeah. Can also side-step just fine. All you have to do is: see what orb pattern you're dealing with, stand on the third panel, ignore the phoenix entirely (this is a distraction) and then side step onto the second panel as it explodes and then jump back onto the third as it explodes and then repeat.

    It's super duper easy.

In this instance he can't stand on the black/brown panel because it would've forced march him off the platform. Not saying it isn't unavoidable just seems like you didn't get the forced march part from the gif.

My only gripe is the arrow tethers mechanic tethers. The mechanic itself is easy to follow but, when the screen is flooded with tethers and other particles I have to squint to figure out which direction I need to go. It's especially bad when it overlaps with someone else. Other than that I had a fun time and the enjoyed the wheel of death mechanic.

I feel for those who who latency problems though.

This should not be the fix. It should not be on the players to make up for SE's bad netcode.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Oh, that was Forced March? Even easier to deal with. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the orbs explode the same way every time. As an example: Purple, yellow, blue and then black (alternatively, blue, black, yellow, purple).

So using the example above, the first panel to explode is Purple. If you're going to be forced to run West or South, then the safest place to stand is Black. If North and East, Blue. The third and fourth panels to explode are always the safest places to stand during Forced March.

So players shouldn't learn to stand on the third (or fourth) panel and then side-step into an exploding panel? If I (190+ ping) can do it, then anyone (less than 190 ping) can do it. Unsure about those with 250-300+ ping, but I believe they can.
